Underwhelming

Very slow pacing and the MC has no depth. The whole book pretty much takes place in one setting and when things do start to pop off, it’s not that great. There are some cool concepts in the story but I think the whole “AKU” idea is hurting the creativity that was showcased in the author’s debut series. Also, the “bonus content” was more of a slap in the face imo.

Character Development

Binged this fantastic book from start to finish in one day! The characters really came alive. Can’t wait for book two!

Good book

I thought it was a very good book I’ve listened to all of his books and this one in my top five favorites books in the AKU the only thing it was just a little slow for me but still love it

Beautifully written

I actually enjoyed this book more then the first one in the land the problem is that it’s to short for my taste we waited years for another kong book to be released for it to be this short. Spoiler warning I didn’t like the fact that soon as he got out the hospital the book was pretty much done and almost a hour of the book is two chapters of the land the first book. You could of made this a cool 20 hour book would of been wonderful that would of gave me enough going threw the first dungeon that would been a good end point especially since kong hasn’t put anything out for like 5 years that’s the only down side about this book I was thinking it would take me at least a few days to finish but it only took one which doesn’t correlate with how long it took him to release a new book which is the only disappointment I have

Good potential for growth and development

I have been a Land fan for years and enjoyed this book. I usually don’t spend a credit for anything under 20 hours but made an exception for this one. The perspective and speed of the story are very different from any of the Land books and closer to the gods eye series in my opinion. After I got done with the book, and having previously done multiple rereads of all previous books, I felt like this was a good time to introduce this series and character to the Labyrinth universe for potential future connections between all three series. Which absolutely excites me and makes me eager for more Kong books. If you are a diehard land audible listener you will not be disappointed with the different narrator! Pavi did an awesome job!

A great story, with a hero that’s hilarious.

Our hero is older, has a wife and is very happy with his life. Then like any great revenge story the hero life is up ended and taken away. Our Hero fin fights his way and builds his revenge story.

Welcome back Dr. Kong!

Genuinely enjoyed the first iteration of this series. Great storytelling and pacing. Funny as hell. Somehow nailed my style of humor 100%. Pavi nailed the narration, as always. Will recommend to others!

ok start

-Mc is basically the same as his other books
-spends a long time developing a primary motivation for Mc then basically throws it away
-very much feels like the first half of a book rather than a whole story, but a good start to the series
-time is padded by the first 3 chapters of "the land"

Easily one of the best of 2024

This was a fun read. Its unlike anything i've read thus far. Its a system apocalypse, but like a prequel to it. The MC in this story is, for lack of a better word, Cool. He is mature and competent, you don't see him making obvious mistakes to create a tool the author can use for character development.

This story is really just scratching the surface of what will likely be an extensive series. Even at the end of book one you still have very little idea of what the MC is truly capable of. Yet it is somehow so captivating.

I do believe content wise this is better than the Land, However i don't believe it will be as popular.

Amazing start to a series

Aleron Kong is back with a great action packed start to a new series. The series has a much different tone than the Land series. Less comedy and more anger. This leads to a compelling main charecter with greater depth right from the beginning. Pavi Proczko narration is once again one of the best in the business. Excited to see how this series progresses.
