So…. Annoying. All the way through.

The main character was completely dysfunctional and self-sabotaging but talked herself into thinking that even though she destroyed something in her life that would have meant happiness, she was being true to herself and that was more important than being happy. When all she was doing was saying no to a piece of paper that means nothing in the long run. Married or not, you can always get divorced. The hero and the heroine were idiots, in my opinion. Both of them let semantics and details be more important than love. He believes in marriage. She doesn’t. They’re in love and it’s obviously the kind of love that most people don’t find. They said goodbye instead of compromising. What a waste. Glad this was a book and not a true story. I wanted to yell at them to not be ridiculous. I don’t think I’ll be reading more from this author if this is what she feels is being true to yourself, and a healthy relationship with yourself. Loving yourself does not look like this - spending a lifetime missing a person that you could have had with a little shift of perception. I almost stopped reading this book multiple times out of annoyance but after half way I was invested. I’m sorry I did. Listening to her go on and on justifying to herself that her decision was the right one to make even though she was miserable - cmon.

Ugh. Why!

The warning that this is not a Rom-Com needs to come in a little stronger.

I wanted to love this, but…it was too sad.
