Resumen del Editor

Actor Kelsey Grammer, best known for his roles in the TV sitcoms Cheers and Frasier, delivers Bitter Brew, a compelling mystery featuring Detective Bill Walsh, an upstate cop in the quiet, rural town of Beatriceville, 200 miles north of New York City, who suspects foul play in the death of millionaire city transplant Jonathan Kimball, even though the evidence points to suicide, not murder.

Between the four grown daughters he adores - even if they make him crazy - his complicated relationship with his ex, and his annoying boss, probing into a death that most have deemed a suicide is the last headache Bill needs. But the inexorable desire for justice and to do his job lead him to delve into many town secrets that most in Beatriceville citizens would prefer to keep unexamined.

Filled with colorful characters and with a riveting pace, Bitter Brew will keep listeners guessing until the unexpected denouement.

Story good… but

Could have done without the S&M description. Not necessary, to a somewhat humorous mystery.

Fun Mystery

A little predictable toward the end but overall entertaining with the nice soothing voice of Kelsey. Kelsey Grammer does a good job of reading, a bit overly focused on sex but an enjoyable book that you can listen to while doing other things and not miss too much.

Love Love This Book

I absolutely love this book. I love the lighthearted writing, the craggy detective, AND I love Kelsey Grammer's voice, This book literally makes me laugh out loud with the descriptions and feelings I imagine in my head. Being in law enforcement myself, I can see and hear these words just like they came out of my own mouth! I talk about this book to those I work with as well as my husband because I have enjoyed it so much!! Thank you Kelsey and Laurie for such a great experience!!

Great narration!

I loved the narration and really like Kelsey Grammar. The story was weak and light, but fairly entertaining. Loved all the females but needs more depth in the next one.

Cheese with a side order of cringe

Interesting plot and characters, with plenty of twists and suspects. Pretty far fetched ending though, and all too neatly wrapped up for my liking. Smultz doesn’t cover it. Kelsey Grammer has a great voice for audiobooks but as a keen watcher of “Fraser”, it jarred that the main character was not like “Fraser” who i was hearing speak - apart from adolescently falling for and copping off with all the single women!

Good story, humorous and suspenseful with llamas a-plenty

At times outright hilarious, honest depictions of characters that were made more real by the humor and curmudgeonliness of the author. Felt like an old time radio show

Finally a book that held my interest and made me want to continue listening.

It’s a rare mixture of humor and murder mystery. Kelsey Grammer is a superb narrator. More, please.

Bitter Brew Not a bitter listen

I’ll confess to having used a BOGO and took a flier on this one. I remembered Kelsey Grammer as a talented actor from his days on Cheers and on Fraser, and I was curious about his writing skills. Turns out it was an enjoyable listen. The story was captivating and had some pretty unexpected turns, and he’d did a good job of performing it. I’ll be checking Audible to see if he has anything else out.
