A young woman's body is found in a remote barn on the Fens. Before she was killed, one of her fingers had been cut off. Who is inflicting this violence and why?
The young woman in the barn had been kept captive for some time. And the case shows strong similarities to an unsolved murder in Derbyshire. When another woman is found alive with similar injuries, the case grows even more complicated.
At the same time, the Fenland police have received intelligence that the ruthless criminal Freddy Carver plans to make Greenborough the hub for his new enterprise. DI Nikki Galena is desperate to track down Freddie Carver and make sure that he does not put down roots in the Fens, but finding him is not easy. And what's his connection to the kidnapped girls?

The best one yet!
This was definitely the best book of the series, although I loved them all. Such wonderful complex characters who I've grown to love. I cannot wait for the next book in this series!

I can’t stop listening to them! I enjoy learning the “new to me vocabulary” as I listen to the English terms for policing on the Fen.

Become Captive of Your Desires
I like that this story expanded on the new relationships developed in the earlier books. The story shows the personal developments within the police team while investigating the crimes. Captive pertains to the crime and the emotional developments within the team. Another good narration and story in the series.

Excellent series!
This series just keeps on improving! I love that the characters never do things “out of character” just for a good plot twist. The storyline in every book of this series is well developed and has continuity with the previous books while still unraveling a compelling new mystery. I’m looking forward to listening to the rest of the books in this series!

Great characters and great suspense
If you could sum up Captive on the Fens in three words, what would they be?
another great story
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes - keep guessing who the real kidnapper is - nice twist of how another kidnap victim is found.
What does Henrietta Meire bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I need to listen at.75 speed to understand the accent which I enjoy but find hard to understand at the faster speed.
Any additional comments?
Love the whole series - one of the best of British procedurals - like the character development

Hooked
Another great Nikki Galena book. This one kept me guessing until then end. Narration is still great... but too soothing. I cannot listen when I am tired... she lulls me to sleep.

Nikki needs a break
Though I enjoyed this read, it was not my favorite of the series.
Nikki is once again, along with Joseph and her team, on the hunt for another villain. This one, however, is a bit more disturbed than ones in her past for different reasons.
