About the Creator

Scott Bartlett writes books from inside a mech, which is inside the hangar bay of a light armored cruiser stationed just past Jupiter.
Certain parts of the last sentence may not be completely true. Here are some more believable statements:
Scott was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, the easternmost province of Canada. During his decade-long journey to become a full-time author, he supported himself by working an assortment of jobs…salmon hatchery technician, grocery clerk, youth care worker, ghostwriter, research assistant, pita maker, and freelance editor.
In 2014, he succeeded in becoming a full-time novelist, and he’s been writing science fiction at light speed ever since.

About the Performer

Mark Boyett has narrated 325 titles and counting in every genre, garnering an Audie Award for In Harm’s Way by Doug Stanton and an Earphones Awards for 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami.
He’s the voice of multiple hit sci-fi series including Star Force and Undying Mercenaries by B.V. Larson, The Black Fleet Trilogy by Joshua Dalzelle, and Mech Wars by Scott Bartlett.

good stuff

Gives me a real Drop trooper/ Galaxies edge type feel. "Frog dogs" is pretty hilarious too.

An Engaging Blend of Consequences and Redemption

This story delivers a compelling mix of military action and character development. Po Abbato, the main character, starts out as someone who isn't easy to like. His journey from a troubled young man to a Marine facing the harsh realities of war is both gripping and transformative. The narrative doesn't rush into battle but instead builds a solid foundation during boot camp, setting the stage for a larger conflict.

Boyett’s narration adds another layer, bringing out the personalities of each character and making the world feel immersive. His performance is spot on, whether during intense combat or quieter moments of self-reflection.

Bartlett excels at capturing the camaraderie and struggles that come with military life. This isn't just about explosions and space battles—there’s an emotional depth that keeps you invested in Po’s journey and eager to see where the next installment will take him. If you're a fan of military sci-fi, this series offers a satisfying blend of drama, action, and character growth. Highly recommended!

Redemption and Coming of age in the Marine Corps

Almost a man but not quite there, A young man learns that actions have consequences and his consequences cause him to grow up fast. Follow his story as he learns that being a man requires more of him than he ever thought it could.

Scott Bartlett has done it again and brings us an engaging story about a young man that doesn't much like himself until he learns what it means to be a man and stand with his brothers.

I'm hooked!

Just finished listening to to Book One. Very honest characters, loving the sci-fi technology. The plot moves forward at a good pace. I'm looking forward to see how the characters develop. I'm a big fan of Mark Boyett, his interpretation is spot on. If you like military space opera, this is a winner!

A great read

I have been on a bit of an audiobook dry spell. long enough to accumulate three credits and I decide to grab conscript on a whim. it was fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed it. it's a very well written and bleak world that shows the highs and lows of the main character. all while he struggles with his past and where his future is taking him. all I need to know is when does the book come out because now I have another title I have to wait for.

Never disliked a character this much

If the authors intent was to make me dislike the main character he succeeded. Halfway through chapter 5 and I'm hoping Po gets blown out an airlock. In books and real life I have always hated people the blame others for their problems and cry about their tough life. Po needs to stop his crying like a girl and be a man.

Boot camp and Marine Corps action

This is the story of Po Abbato, a young man who makes a criminal mistake and is given the choice of going to prison or joining the Marine Corps! Po chooses the latter and goes off to Boot Camp! There is a war on and Marines are needed. Lots of Marine boot camp craziness, brutality and training and making of Marines. Then war!!! This is great Military action, well developed characters and a great story line…Scott has written a great story and Mark has turned in a great performance - highly recommended
