Resumen del Editor

From New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Maberry, NecroTek is a gripping sci-fi thriller full of ghosts, gods, and a battle for the soul of humanity.

Neither cosmic philosopher Lars Soren, hotshot pilot Bianca Petrescu, nor the high priestess Jessica McHugh—Lady Death herself—can say quite where in the galaxy they are. But after an experiment gone horribly wrong, one thing is clear: Asphodel Station isn’t in orbit around Jupiter any longer. Worse, the monsters that live out here—ancient eldritch beings thought only to exist in stories and nightmares—have now been alerted to Earth’s existence.

Their army of Shoggoths is coming for us next.

Humanity’s only hope for survival lies on the surface of the alien world of Shadderal, where a ghost named Lost, the last of an ancient race, still haunts the vast plains of the Field of Dead Birds. But hope has a cost. Lost tells Soren about ancient derelict spacecraft awaiting on Shadderal, shapeshifting machines that blend ultra-advanced technology with the dark powers of necromancy. These ships might just be nimble enough to defend mankind against the coming invasion.

But there’s a catch: they can only be piloted by the dead.

As human starfighters fall in battle, their spirits can be called back from death to pilot these ghost ships of a fallen race. But will this new necromantic technology—NecroTek—allow humanity to stand against the vast armies of the Shoggoths? And even if it can, is the war to save the human race worth the cost of its pilots’ immortal souls?

Outstanding writing and character development makes this an amazing story!

Scientists meddling in things they shouldn’t starts this amazingly fast paced science fiction phenomenon! You’re going to connect to the amazing characters and stay rooted to the edge of your seat in this amazing thriller. I was even shouting out loud at points in the story.
Ray Porter is the KING OF NARRATION and presents this story in a way that honors its creativity while adding that something only Ray Porter can pull off!

had some seriously creepy parts

the beginning had some very creepy and scary parts. did the unseen horror and psychological tension associated with Lovecraftian horror. after that becomes more of an action story. lost its creepy/scary/tension filled vibes but still a good start to what has the potential to be a great lovecraftian horror/sci-fi.

Way too drawn out.

You could see where this was going to go fairly early, but it takes forever to get there. Ray Porter does a decent job, though I personally find some of his voices grating. I don't see a direction for this to go as a series, but we'll find out I guess.

The story line and action itself is like a weird cross between a Kaiju manga and a Lovecraftian horror novel. I don't mean that in a good way.

Typical Mayberry

If you like the troupes of his other series you'll like this. It's the same patterns with a sci-fi coating

Jonathan Mayberry’s mind

The author’s mind never ceases to amaze me and this book is no different. The pairing of author and narrator is beyond any other. Don’t think just buy and enjoy

Jonathan Mayberry?

this has the telltale writing of a Jonathan Mayberry story. It has the creepiness that he loves and it has All the cool military shit and great writing.

Ray Porter does an excellent job as always.

The story is like listening to Creed, or waking up one day and turning on the TV and randomly stopping on a channel to watch a movie and you discover that is the Christian movie's channel. That's what this feels like.

It's like I'm sitting in a lecture about why I should believe in Jesus or something. That's not directly referenced but it feels like that. The whole understanding of the book hinges on the fact that everyone has an immortal soul and God's exist and all that stuff. kind of masking as a Cthulhu book.

anyway if you like weird religious stuff then this is the book for you It's not a Joe ledger book. It's not even pine deep.

have fun

Deteriorates into a Transformer Cartoon

The initial dilemma of the warp gun failure has some promise but it is quickly abandoned. If you're a 6th grader, the stereotypical, shallow, characters and totally predictable action lines will be able to hold your interest. More and more, the author seems to be coasting downhill.

Weird Tales Magazine Does It Again!

Wow! what a fantastic book. I thought I would be more critical however, everything was so well written. The build-ups were fantastic, and the descriptions were vivid in a wonderfully chilling way!
