Packed with new reporting, Tired of Winning: Donald Trump and the End of the Grand Old Party tracks Trump’s improbable journey from disgraced and defeated former president to the dominant force, yet again, in the Republican Party. From his exile in Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump has become more extreme, vengeful, and divorced from reality than he was on January 6, 2021. His meddling damaged the GOP’s electoral prospects for third consecutive election in 2022. His legal troubles are mounting. Yet he re-emerged as the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

In Mr. Trump’s campaign against what he calls “Fake News”, CNN Chief White House Correspondent, Jim Acosta, is public enemy number one. From the moment Mr. Trump announced his candidacy in 2015, he has attacked the media, calling journalists “the enemy of the people”. Acosta presents a damning examination of bureaucratic dysfunction, deception, and the unprecedented threat the rhetoric Mr. Trump is directing has on our democracy. When the leader of the free world incites hate and violence, Acosta doesn’t back down, and he urges his fellow citizens to do the same.

Few figures in American politics have seen more and said less than Mitt Romney. An outspoken dissident in Donald Trump’s GOP, he has made headlines in recent years for standing alone against the forces he believes are poisoning the party he once led. Romney was the first senator in history to vote to remove from office a president of his own party. When that president’s supporters went on to storm the US Capitol, Romney delivered a thundering speech from the Senate floor accusing his fellow Republicans of stoking insurrection.

Resumen del Editor
*The Instant New York Times Bestseller*
“A book historians will relish.”—Peggy Noonan, Wall Street Journal
"Must read. I've read every book about the Trump presidency. This is the best."—Bill Press
An account like no other from the White House reporter who has known President Donald Trump for more than 25 years.
We have never seen a president like this...norm-breaking, rule-busting, dangerously reckless to some and an overdue force for change to others. One thing is clear: We are witnessing the reshaping of the presidency.
Jonathan Karl brings us into the White House in a powerful book unlike any other on the Trump administration. He's known and covered Donald Trump longer than any other White House reporter. With extraordinary access to Trump during the campaign and at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Karl delivers essential new reporting and surprising insights.
These are the behind-the-scenes moments that define Trump's presidency—an extraordinary look at the president, the person, and those closest to him. This is the real story of Trump's unlikely rise; of the struggles and battles of those who work in the administration and those who report on it; of the plots and schemes of a senior staff enduring stunning and unprecedented unpredictability.
Karl takes us from a TV set turned campaign office to the strange quiet of Trump's White House on Inauguration Day to a high-powered reelection campaign set to change the country's course. He shows us an administration rewriting the role of the president on the fly and a press corps that has never been more vital. Above all, this book is only possible because of the surprisingly open relationship Donald Trump has had with Jonathan Karl, a reporter he has praised, fought, and branded an enemy of the people.
This is Front Row at the Trump Show.
Reseñas de la Crítica
"Jonathan Karl gives us much more than program notes for The Trump Show in this revealing and personal account of his relationship with our 45th President. We learn what it is really like to be on the White House beat, about the peculiarities of dealing with the personality in the Oval Office, and ultimately the risks and dangers we face at this singular moment in American history." (Mike McCurry, former White House Press Secretary (1995-98), Director/Professor, Center for Public Theology, Wesley Theological Seminary)
"The Constitution is strict: It says we must have presidents. Fortunately, we occasionally have reporters as talented as Jonathan Karl—an acute observer and gifted writer—to record what presidents do. Karl is exactly the right journalist to chronicle the 45th president, who is more—to be polite—exotic than his predecessors." (George F. Will)
"No reporter has covered Donald Trump longer and with more energy than Jonathan Karl. It pays off in his account of what he calls the Trump Show with some startling scoops. What did the president scrawl across the rejected resignation letter from his attorney general? He tells us." (Susan Page, Washington Bureau chief, USA Today)

According to the media, Donald Trump could never become president. Now many are on a mission to prove he shouldn't be president. The Trump administration and the press are at war - and as in any war, the first casualty has been truth. Bestselling author Howard Kurtz, host of Fox News's Media Buzz and former Washington Post columnist, offers a stunning exposé of how supposedly objective journalists, alarmed by Trump's success, have moved into the opposing camp.

The chiefs of staff, often referred to as "the gatekeepers", wield tremendous power in Washington and beyond; they decide who is allowed to see the president, negotiate with Congress to push POTUS's agenda, and - most crucially - enjoy unparalleled access to the leader of the free world. Through extensive, intimate interviews with 18 living chiefs (including Reince Priebus) and two former presidents, award-winning journalist and producer Chris Whipple pulls back the curtain on this unique fraternity. In doing so, he revises our understanding of presidential history.

Every president has been convinced of his own honesty and transparency; every reporter who has covered the White House beat has believed with equal fervency that his or her journalistic rigor protects the country from danger. Our first president, George Washington, was also the first to grouse about his treatment in the newspapers, although he kept his complaints private. Subsequent chiefs like John Adams, Abraham Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson, and Barack Obama were not so reticent, going so far as to wield executive power to overturn press freedoms, and even to prosecute journalists.

Historia
According to the media, Donald Trump could never become president. Now many are on a mission to prove he shouldn't be president. The Trump administration and the press are at war - and as in any war, the first casualty has been truth. Bestselling author Howard Kurtz, host of Fox News's Media Buzz and former Washington Post columnist, offers a stunning exposé of how supposedly objective journalists, alarmed by Trump's success, have moved into the opposing camp.

Historia

In 31 Days, Barry Werth takes listeners inside the White House during the tumultuous days following Nixon's resignation and the swearing-in of America's "accidental president", Gerald Ford. The congressional hearings, Nixon's increasing paranoia, and, finally, the devastating revelations of the White House tapes had torn the country apart. Within the White House and the Republican Party, Nixon's resignation produced new fissures and battle lines and new opportunities for political advancement.

The explosive tale of the unraveling of an American president. For six years, Ronald Reagan seemed invincible. But behind the glowing image of success was an administration courting disaster. In this spellbinding book, two top Washington reporters trace the origins of the Iran-Contra affair and the unraveling of the Reagan presidency, taking us deep inside a white house that cared more for stagecraft than statecraft and that mistook a landslide reelection for an unlimited mandate.

The 2016 election was a watershed for the United States. But, as Tim Alberta explains in American Carnage, to understand Trump’s victory is to view him not as the creator of this era of polarization and bruising partisanship, but rather as its most manifest consequence. American Carnage is the story of a president’s rise based on a country’s evolution and a party’s collapse. As George W. Bush left office with record-low approval ratings and Barack Obama led a Democratic takeover of Washington, Republicans faced a moment of reckoning.

"Can you believe what Donald Trump said?" In Gaslighting America, Amanda Carpenter breaks down Trump's formula, showing why it's practically foolproof, playing his victims, the media, the Democrats, and the Republican fence-sitters perfectly. She traces how this tactic started with Nixon, gained traction with Bill Clinton, and exploded under Trump. Where some people see lies, Trump's fierce followers see something different. A commitment to winning at all costs: There is nothing he could say that would erode their support at long as it's in the name of taking down his political enemies.

What caused White nationalist groups to come out of the shadows, and are they here to stay? The answers lie the twisted story of the relationship between Donald Trump and Fox News. Through firsthand accounts from over 250 current and former Fox insiders, CNN anchor and chief media correspondent Brian Stelter unlocks the inner workings of Rupert Murdoch’s multibillion-dollar media empire.

Historia
Donald Trump will be president again, whether he is on the ballot or not. That is because Trumpism is overtaking the Republican Party and will mount a vigorous comeback, potentially in the hands of a savvier successor. This prophecy will come true, according to Miles Taylor, if we do not learn the lessons of the recent past. With the 2024 election approaching, the formerly “Anonymous” official is back with bombshell revelations and a sobering national forecast. Taylor predicts what could happen inside “Trump 2.0,” the White House of a more competent and more formidable copycat.

Wish I could say I was astounded!
I couldn't say that information Karl gleaned in the front row astounded me because it is much like Bob Woodward's book et. al. I enjoyed the book and admire Johnathan Karl's reporting. But I probably shouldn't have read it because it depressingly confirms what we already know about Trump: liar, egomaniac, uninformed, uneducated.

Excellent!
Jonathan Karl's 30 years of service as a White House Correspondent makes him highly qualified to report on what he has seen and experienced within the Trump presidency for the last 3 years. This book is an excellent compilation of that information. A lot of these details we knew already because we see it every day on TV, in Tweets, and on national news media, but the intimate details behind the scenes are fascinating and appalling, Good job Mr. Karl!

A peek behind the scenes
I respect & believe Jonathan Karl. It was fascinating to hear the behind the scene stories of what we saw on the news. Also to be validated on the news items said to be “Fake News” but were true!

Do you believe that truth matters? Read this book!
Karl has managed to be unbiased, insightful, entertaining and astoundingly thought provoking. The in depth break down and the implications of telling the truth and lying is fascinating. The problem is...those who need to read this book most likely never will...and that is a sad truth.

Scary look behind the scenes of President Trump
Interesting look behind the scenes of a Presidency that has been proven chaotic at best. Details in this book seem to clarify reality. The revolving door of qualified and unqualified cabinet members, continued crisis hiding the lunacy happening in front of our eyes.

Excellent Reporting
Certainly the times we live in are upsetting. But this book pointed out the pivotal crossroads we are facing.
it was well written and entertaining. And fairly written, I thought. It is a book that all Americans should read.

Explains Allot !
A good book that includes many audio recordings of people saying things that they have denied, in public and on the record.

One of the best audio books I've listen to
I watch Jonathon Karl nightly on ABC News. I have seen a lot of his reports. His reading of his book is outstanding, in delivery and completes a story that we can only see snippets of during a broadcast. I LOVE the fact that he adds audio from the actual news conferences to make an impressive point. Well done.

One of the best objective books I’ve read about the Trump era
I was a former Republican. I voted in every election until 2016, there was no way I could vote for Trump. My morals as a Christian would never allow me to vote for such a man, so for the first time in my life…I did not vote.
Covid and 2020 opened my eyes a lot to the true nature of the GOP under the influence of Trump, his minions and conspiracies like Q’Anon. I have been horrified to watch almost a million Americans die in the US due to the mishandling of the pandemic, conspiracies, misinformation and the inequities we have so deeply rooted in America.
I have read a few Trump era books, some are horribly biased with a lot of opinion interjected and distributed as truth. Some books were soft and more like a slap on the wrist while still praising Trump.
I really wanted to know what was happening in the Trump era without a lot of opinion written in or at least if there was opinion it was declared as such. Jonathan Karl provides just that in this book. I really felt like everything I suspected as a Republican quickly being pushed out of the party by extremists were true. It shows the complete breakdown and chaos that was happening in the Trump White House in an objective way. I love the audible version as Jonathan has included clips of recordings he had to help illustrate his points in the books.
This was a good read and I finished it within a few days as I could not stop listening! I can not wait to read his next book.
I highly recommend this book whether you are a Trump supporter or not. Knowledge is important and this is full of historical knowledge we all need to learn before the divide in this country is too wide.
