Acerca de esta escucha

Two years after the devastation of mass human extinctions in kill zones, mankind is still grasping for survival. An oppressive union of government and big business controls an exhausted America, which is divided between walled-in Protectorates and the unpoliced Outlands. Against this chaotic backdrop, paleobiologist and genetic researcher Mark Freedman and policewoman Sarah Mayfair continue their evolution into transhumansnanotech hybrids with a connection to the god machine, the artificial intelligence that caused the recent massacres, in an effort to derail the destruction of the Earth's biosphere.©2010, 2011, 2012 Kevin Bohacz (P)2014 Audible Inc. Reseñas de la Crítica

"Bohacz's vision of a humanity that faces the need to evolve profoundly or face certain destruction is as timely as today's news and as chilling a doomsday scenario as any ecological catastrophe can suggest..." ( Publisher's Weekly Starred Review)
"There is enough power in the premise to leave readers reeling. A novel that will surprise fans of science-fiction and doomsday scenarios..." ( Kirkus Reviews)
"S.J. Higbee: Bohacz manages to provide a gripping plot with plenty of twists and turns that kept up the tension right to the very end. Bohacz has aimed very high with this techie yarn about why we are here and what might happen next and even if techno-thrillers aren't normally your favorite genre, give this book a go. I'm betting that you'll still be thinking about it when some of your favorite authors have faded into the furniture." (S. J. Higbee)

Unbelievably Well Done!!!

Would you listen to Ghost of the Gods again? Why?

Quite likely. There was a great deal of detail in both books of this series that another listen will probably bring additional levels of understanding and depth to my emotional experiences with both books in this series.

What about Kevin T. Collins’s performance did you like?

The narrator did such a fabulous job, in both this book, and Immortality, of bringing each character to life through different voices. The emotional range he put behind the voice of each character made it almost impossible to stop listening when I had to go to work, to sleep or meet other life requirements,

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If it was not 20 hours long, I likely would have attempted to gobble it up all in one listen. Immortality, the first book of the series, was exactly the same. I could hardly wait for this book to download so I could continue with the story.

Excellent book!

I absolutely love this book. The story was very good...I was on the edge of my seat.

Worth a listen, but...

This book continues the story of the "nano plague" started in "Immortality." The story's premise, as with the first, is great, the characters and some of the plot, a little less so. Here are some of the points I did not care for:
-The character "Noah" made no sense to me, and as far as I could tell didn't do very much.
-The character "Cathy," after having split with Mark amicably (though she feels still in love with him), slaps and hates on Mark all through the last third of the book instead of behaving like an adult. Seriously, Cathy, the dude is a trans-human hybrid and you're surprised he falls for another one? Grow up Cathy!
-General McCafferty (sp?) goes from hating Mark's guts with the fury of a thousand suns to worshiping the ground he walks on in the span of like three chapters.
-The God Machine goes from eliminating 2/3 of all humans to loving them at the end of the book? I don't get that, but maybe its just me. Due to the interface at the zero-g labs? Maybe I'm just dumb on this one, but why the 180?
-WHERE IS THE REST OF THE WORLD?? You mean to tell me that all the rest of the world sat on it's backside after having it's population decimated? Russia, China, UK, where are you guys? Having an end of the world siesta? Maybe the God Machine decided 47000 years ago or whatever that someday there would be a United States, and darn it, it was gonna be an American by god!

Anyway, all that being said, it is definitely not the worst book I've read (listened to). It just could have been great with some changes.

just skip it.

I only bought this book because I can't stand that reading the sequels. Even if the first books sucked. If you like the first book you will like this book. But if you struggle to the first one just don't even bother with this one. You can listen to the first 20 minutes of each chapter and call it a day. This guy has no idea how to move a story along

The first book was good. This one not so much.

This book really went off the rails. Half way in, I realized that I didn't care what what happened at all. Such a shame after the promising start of the first.
