Acerca de esta escucha

The Zondervan Biblical and Theological Lectures series provides a unique audio learning experience. Unlike a traditional audiobook's direct narration of a book's text, God’s Word Alone: Audio Lectures includes high-quality live recordings of college-level lectures that cover the important points from each subject as well as relevant material from other sources.

Historians and theologians alike have long recognized that at the heart of the 16th-century Protestant Reformation were five declarations (or solas) that distinguished the movement from other expressions of the Christian faith.

Five hundred years later, we live in a different time with fresh challenges to our faith. Yet these rallying cries of the Reformation continue to speak to us, addressing a wide range of contemporary issues. The Five Solas series will help you understand the historical and biblical context of the five solas and how to live out the relevance of Reformation theology today.

In God's Word Alone: Audio Lectures, scholar and professor Matthew Barrett explores the historical and biblical roots of the doctrine that Scripture alone is the final and decisive authority for God's people. Sessions explain the development of this theme in the Reformation and trace the crisis that followed, resulting in a shift away from the authority of Scripture. Each session shows the need to recover a robust doctrine of Scripture's authority in the face of today's challenges and why a solid doctrinal foundation built on God's Word is the best hope for the future of the church. God's Word Alone: Audio Lectures is accessible to a variety of audiences - college and seminary students, pastors, lay learners, and anyone interested in learning about the authority of God's Word.

I love this book, not the audible

The book and it's content are amazing. I highly, highly recommend them. But the audible option I'd give a hard pass. It doesn't flow, the narrator skips words, and leaves entire paragraphs out. I know because I was reading along as he read the book aloud. He has a nice speaking voice, but it was way too distracting to recommend.

Recomended

This work is expansive in nature. It covers and glosses over soo many things that the layman is not likely to encounter in this form. However I as a lay person feel I gained a good deal and a solid defense for the authority of scripture as the author tackles many modern problems the church has been faced with. Even if the jargen is foreign, the issues described are very familiar. I find the arguements presented as very persuasive and logically ordered. Due to the scope I did feel overwhelmed at times but that is nothing a little extra study and a revisit to the text won't fix. I would recomend this to any lay person though. If you feel its a little over your head find a church friend to go through it with you. Afterall the church is not just you and there is good reason for that.

Skips parts in the book.

Hard to listen sometimes. Reader skips sections in the book and changes some word. Hard to follow sometimes when I’m following in the book and listening.
