Resumen del Editor
A much-needed reminder about what it means to be truly human in a world where people feel increasingly disconnected from each other and from God, by the popular author of Enter Wild.
“Carlos has created an antidote to what ails us.”—New York Times bestselling author Jon Acuff
These are crazy times, people. We are more agitated than ever. We’re fighting. Wrestling with big issues. Less connected than ever to one another and to God. It’s a perfect storm: debilitating anxiety, crashing relationships, and forgetting what it feels like to, well, be human.
In How to Human, author, speaker, and social-media personality Carlos Whittaker offers a fresh vision for becoming the best versions of ourselves. We can refuse to let disagreements define us. We can say no to becoming upset, rage-filled humans and say yes to fuller, happier lives. It begins as we make the shift from “me” to “we” to “everybody” in a three-part journey to be human, see fellow humans, and free those around us.
You’ll think, laugh, and be inspired by this practical guide, which reveals how to help others, how to hope fiercely, and how to experience the thrill of being fully human. Carlos describes a radical path of love—one that requires us to become builders rather than demolitionists. One that gets personal. One that moves toward others in faith rather than away in fear. One that, when times get crazy, is willing to get crazier (in a good way). One that understands the big joy of how to human.
Reseñas de la Crítica
“Did politicians make us all forget how to human? Should we point the finger at social media? Is the economy to blame? I’m not sure. But I am certain that Carlos has created an antidote to what ails us. Clear, hopeful, and full of truth, he has once again charted a path to a better world.” —Jon Acuff, New York Times bestselling author of Soundtracks: The Surprising Solution to Overthinking
“Wherever Carlos appears, whether on social media, in his books, or in person as a friend, he shows us how to be a good human. Now we have his stories and God-given heart for humanity in How to Human, and I couldn’t be more excited. Carlos continually reminds me that while there’s so much suffering in this life, there’s so much goodness too. He helps us see the people around us, remembering that everyday moments are something sacred. Carlos lives like Jesus and reflects our Savior as He deals hope to a world that desperately needs it. This book is for anyone who wants that too—it’s a must-read!” —Lysa TerKeurst, #1 New York Times bestselling author and president of Proverbs 31 Ministries
“Carlos lives it first, writes it second. This is one of his superpowers. He faces life’s challenges head on and then invites us to do the same. How To Human is inspiring, challenging, inviting, and hopeful. This is the book we need right now.” —Annie F. Downs, New York Times bestselling author of That Sounds Fun

What she discovered early on is most people are very willing to talk about Jesus: atheists, agnostics, Scientologists, Jews, broken-hearted Catholics, confused Baptists, Pentecostals, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Hindus alike. While some of the people Kathie Lee has spoken with do not share her belief that Jesus is the Messiah - as prophesied for centuries by prophets in the Hebrew scriptures - they nonetheless have a universal fascination with him.

In a shallow light-speed world, how can we really know and be known by another person? How do we make true friends? The Digital Age is all about change, but the need for true friendship never changes. We are designed for real engagement with others - for affirmation that goes beyond a simple "like" on social media, for connection over meals, for hope and excitement about the future. Above all, we need to be known and accepted for who we are.

Historia
Hannah Brencher, TED Talk speaker and founder of The World Needs More Love Letters, thought Atlanta was her destination. Yet even after she arrived, she found herself in the same old chase for the next best thing…somewhere else. And it left her in a state of anxiety and deep depression. Our hyper-connected era has led us to believe life should be a highlight reel - where what matters most is perfect beauty, instant success, and ready applause. Yet, as Hannah learned, nothing about faith, relationships, or character is instant. So she took up a new mantra: be where your feet are.

I'd Like You More If You Were More like Me takes on one of life's most important questions: How can I get closer to God and other people? We were created for deep connections. When people have deep connections, says John Ortberg, they win in life. When they don't have deep connections, they cannot win in life. I'd Like You More If You Were More like Me offers help in overcoming one of the biggest obstacles to making deep connections: the fact that we're so different. Different from God and different from each other.

"God, if you're real, make yourself real to me." Each of us spends our lives on a journey toward God. Yet often our most deeply felt longings - for meaning, for love, for significance - end up leading us away from instead of toward our Creator and the people he made us to be. Finding Your Way Back to God shows you how to understand and listen to your longings in a whole new way.

Are you ever concerned that you don’t deserve to love and be loved because you are continually having to prove yourself? In You Are Beloved, Bobby Schuller shows you how to let go of these fears and put your trust in the One who sees you for who you really are. Here is an easy to follow, proven path to personal dignity for all those who think they are not good enough no matter how much they achieve. This path is illuminated by the truths that it is not about what you accomplish, but what has already been accomplished for you; not about what you have, but what has already been provided; and not about who others say you are, but who God says you are. Know that you are valued, cared for, and embraced. You Are Beloved will help you rebuild your life as a response to that assurance.

Historia
In The Small and the Mighty, Sharon McMahon proves that the most remarkable Americans are often ordinary people who didn’t make it into the textbooks. Not the presidents, but the telephone operators. Not the aristocrats, but the schoolteachers. Through meticulous research, she discovers history’s unsung characters and brings their rich, riveting stories to light for the first time.

The hope dealer has entered the discussion
Just finished listening and will be listening again and soon. It's full of grace, truth, laughs and tears. Carlos Whittaker is known to be the "hope dealer" online and this book delivers just that. In this time of division, hate and hopelessness, his words offer ways to find unity, love and hopefulness. Definitely recommend.

An encouraging reminder
This book was just what encouraging reminder I needed - even in the midst of all of life’s chaos, there is hope and he points out clearly where we can find it and how to put it into action.

What a beautiful message
I’m so happy I stumbled upon Carlos and the Instafamilia community a year or so ago. His heart for loving others is so pure, and this book truly shows us how to human. I love his heart and the message of this book. Cannot recommend it enough if you need a little hope and/or some action steps on how to put something’s into action to BE the hope we all want.

So Good!
I love Carlos. He is my favorite author. He is real, raw, and honest. I read this book start to finish, like every other book he has released. This book caused me to make some changes in my own life. Carlos gave new perspectives for everyone.
Thank you, Carlos! I am excited for your next book whenever that may be!❤️

Love, love, love this book!
As a Bible believing, Jesus following Christian, I love the way this book teaches. As a Christian who often cringes at the way other "Christians" engage with the people with whom they disagree, I love the way that Carlos uses faith as the basis for his teaching in a most loving and welcoming way. Bravo.

A gift for every human
I wish every human could, and would, read this book. Carlos does a beautiful job of expressing what so many of us have felt over the years. And he does so with grace and kindness. Even for those who may disagree with him on an issue here and there.

This book can change the world.
Carlos has created the life hack of all life hacks. He lays it out so simply yet the impact of his words is significant and inspiring. I recommend this book to absolutely anyone.
