The story held my interest for the most part. Lots of going back and forth to find the truth of their situation. The reader was good but there is an English accent.

the secrets we keep!

this was a fairly straightforward tale of twisted family secrets. the first 3/4 of the story dragged, and I almost gave up. the last 1/4 is a bit more exciting and you finally feel like you're coming up for a big final twist, but it was quite underwhelming.

This was a decent read. Nothing too remarkable or original about it. A good depiction of what type of consequences family secrets can cause.

I was so hoping….

Oh how I long this narrator. She does an excellent job. The story had me on the seat of my pants towards the end. I didn’t like how it took so much for the build up all this drag for nothing.
In the end it did pay off. Great book!!!

This just wasn't the one for me.

This was a good book I just felt a bit let down by it. I expected so much more than what I got. As I read along, I kept waiting for something more twisted or sinister to happen. The twist at the end was surprising but the lead up to it was dry. I never felt anxious to learn what was happening next or the need to read 'just one more page' before I left it to do something else. I didn't get that rush, there was no suspense nor anything gripping about this book. It's one of those books you read just to fill time while you're waiting to do what you actually want to do. I know the author put a lot of work in this but for me, it missed its mark.

I liked the way it lead you one way and then switched it up. Very enjoyable book will be looking for another by this author. 😊

Very slow start

Very slow start. Storyline felt anticlimactic. Reader did a good job but the story was just barely above a flatline. Did not enjoy.

Seriously?

This book started okay. Catches one’s attention. The author did a good job building the tension. Then it started getting very predictable. I had it figured out long before the reveal which isn’t too big a thing. It happens. The issue I take is with the ending. It’s as off this author spent lots of time building this story wanting to shock us at the end and then decided they couldn’t come up with an ending so they decided not to give one. There wasn’t a single glue knot untangled in the end and the reader is left hanging on all the details they want to know after having invested all the time in listening to the story. I completely regret the time I wasted listening to this and sadly won’t read any other novels by this author in fear that this is just the way they write. Stories are subjective so maybe others will have a different opinion. I’d be curious to know. I did not read any reviews before I read it.
