Resumen del Editor

One of history's greatest mysteries—the Ninth Imperial Legion guarding Rome's northernmost frontier in Britannia disappeared around the year 122 AD. This is their story.

Badly outnumbered, facing certain destruction, and cut off from supply, the Imperial Roman Ninth Legion Hispana is in a desperate position. Surrounded by the hostile Celtic army, Senior Centurion Lucious Grackus Lisidus Karus must lead his men to safety after unexpectedly finding himself thrust into command of the legion.

Then, the unthinkable happens.

Karus and the Ninth are transported to a strange place, far away from the Britannia they knew. The legion's deliverance from danger at first appears to be a blessing from the gods, but slowly, they begin to uncover the secrets of this new land, a world that is slowly being overrun by a terrible evil.

A young woman is discovered in a dungeon, where she has been abandoned and left to starve. Inextricably linked with Karus' own destiny, she may be the key to salvation, or worse, the instrument of destruction for the Ninth.

Cast adrift in a terrible war, Karus must find his way through the mysteries of this unfamiliar world, one filled with true magic, strange alien races, evil gods, and dragons. More importantly, Karus must discover his destiny and complete a desperate task set for him by a god of Rome. Should he fail, it will mean certain destruction for the Ninth, the triumph of evil, and the rise of a new order.

"For these I set no bounds in space or time; but have given empire without end."—Jupiter, Virgil's Aeneid.

Bestselling, award-winning author of The Stiger Chronicles, Marc Alan Edelheit, delivers a new action-packed fantasy epic filled with gods and magic. Lost Legio IX is the first book in the exciting Karus Saga series.

"I know these guys ..."

A few days ago I watched a video on "Legio IX" .. the lost legion. Happily I ran across this book on audible .. enjoyed it enough that I will be purchasing Book 2 when it comes out. To me .. the best "review" of a book is when you finish one and immediately want to get the next one in the series.

Mr. Edelheit did an excellent job in bringing to life the men of the 9th. If is my firm belief that underneath culture and language people are pretty much the same creatures. In the novel I see guys that I know from my own 20 years in the US Army. One of my favorite comments to someone about people in ancient times is that .. I can see in my mind a Roman officer in charge of building an aqueduct with his hands on his hips .. staring in disbelief at one of the workmen with him saying something like ... "Remus .. you IDIOT!!! When the gods issued brains you must have been asleep .."

Good stuff. Looking forward to the next installment.

Very entertaining

Even though this is a fiction I really appreciate the authors time researching Roman legions inner workings and trying to be accurate as possible The author really did a good job and I can totally see the ninth Legion being transported to another world

Surprisingly Good!

I enjoy a good novel about ancient Roma. I enjoy fantasy novels such as LOTR, or the WOT. This book is primarily Roman legion focused. Towards the latter half the other fantasy elements are introduced very well. The main character is well fleshed out and I did care about his struggles. The supporting characters didn't get much time or development. However, the story is excellent. I couldn't stop listening for two days.

If you enjoy fantasy, or Roman focused novels, have no hesitation and make this purchase.

Fantasy meets Roman Doctrine

This was a wonderful listen. I found myself pulling in to my drive way and staying in the car to hear as much as I could! The author pays great homage to historical accuracy regarding roman culture and the legions. Using that he grounds you in the logic and flow of what a legion like the 9th would do and in that process marry you to the legion and its plight.

The world building is done well and doesn't rush the reader with new this and that but takes into consideration the ideas of what would be uniform across any culture, be it fantasy or real and then adds enough to let your imagination paint it beautifully in your mind.

There was a part where it became slightly hard to follow, primarily in the beginning between the two mages, but it passes quick enough. the convos between the characters is good and brings you closer to them as people instead of exposition.

Give this a listen! you won't regret it!
