Reseñas de la Crítica

“I read this book in a state of wonder, not just for the author’s gifts as a nuanced storyteller and sharp observer, but for those other remarkable gifts, of intelligence, sensitivity, wit, intuition, self-awareness, and élan that were bestowed on him when he came into the world—all of which he has freely shared with us so long and so beautifully; and finished reading in a state of deep gratitude for the gifts, and the gift, of Patrick Stewart.” —Michael Chabon

“Patrick’s early life is a Dickensian tale of domestic violence and misfortune, transformed by chance and some good folk into the actor internationally admired and loved. He writes as well as he acts, with insight, truth, and passion. Another Stewart Triumph!” —Sir Ian McKellen

“There is so much to say about Sir Patrick. He is an amazing actor, great to look at, really funny, and up for anything. He is a kind man…compassionate and sensitive….but, as you will find when you read the book, his greatest asset as a human being is the fact that he is so completely and unapologetically himself.” —Whoopi Goldberg

Incredible! So much more than a memoir

I can't even begin to describe how good this is the way Patrick Stewart tells his story is so pleasant and unique I really can't put into words how the well this is done, story and production, Stewart narrating goodness is fantastic And to be honest, I was not sure if I would like that or not but Stewart puts all his heart into it, I feel it is something special unlike anything I've heard before.

Anyone looking for a good memoir should listen to this even If you're not familiar with Sir Patrick Stewart It doesn't matter the story holds its weight by itself.

For the fans of Patrick Stewart It is indeed everything you could want and way way more So sit back, relax and take a journey with Jean-Luc Picard.

I do want to add thank you mister Stewart Thank you for a lifetime of watching you on the Enterprise and the big screen And if aliens ever did visit earth I would pick you to represent humanity. Seriously I would

Truly Excellent!

I loved this memoir. Sir Patrick reads his beautiful story with humor and grace. He takes the reader through his hard childhood with understanding and care. And his journey through the theater and beyond is wonderful. And while his voice is older and a little more ragged, it’s still a treat to listen to. You will be happy you spent the time with him.

Candid

Lovely, open, and warm — Patrick Stewart’s memoir is as delightfully gleeful as the good man himself.

Reflections

What a wonderful performance! So many parallels with my own like story. I really enjoyed listening to this life story, narrated by the author himself, a performance to behold, for sure!!! Listening to the narration added a very special dimension to the book.

Engage-ing!!

A remarkably told story of and by a truly remarkable man. There were so many things I didn’t know about him that I am so glad to know now. He is at once, like all of us I think, fallible, emotional, and thick headed. He is, in that same one man, intelligent, caring, dedicated, modest, inspired and inspiring. He is human. I quote (and alter) the following not as Shakespeare’s Henry, but as captain Jean-Luc Picard summing up the life of a friend, “He [is] a man, taken for all in all. [We] shall not look upon his like again.”

Amazing Performance.

I could not imagine experiencing this book any other way than having Sir. Patrick Stewart perform it. And I do mean perform it. Reading the text alone would not give the full experience needed to enjoy his work. This memoir was a masterpiece.
