Gory mystery

The way each character’s personality is revealed as you further into the story is well done. The mystery and plot twists keep you on edge from the start.

I need more.

Creepy AF and yet I cried again and again as the lives of the players unfolded in the midst of blind chaos.

Tense, thought provoking, and heartbreaking.

Steven Brand is one of my favorites and he did not disappoint.

Awesome

1 part Bourne 2 parts all you need is kill. I was a little trepidatious because I have only read his fantasy books (which I have thoroughly enjoyed) and I was worried the new genre might be a bust. Very pleased to be wrong.

Not bad

Author does show his political bias every now and then, but it isn’t too overt, although the 45th President crack will ensure I don’t further purchase any future books. Talented authors are those who don’t put their bias in there stories. Anyway, story drags a bit. It does have a good twist and doesn’t turn out like you think it will. Isn’t a series for sure.

Worst language in any AJ, Ryan book

This will unfortunately be my last Anthony Ryan book. He is the author of one of my all-time favorite books, blood song. The language in this book was absolutely horrible. I will not be able to recommend Anthony Ryan’s books any longer.

Good plot and characters, but very familiar

I really like Ryan's fantasy books and I like that he's stretching out to do more current-day fiction. Although this book has good plot and characters, they are reminiscent of plots and story bears for things like The Last of Us, The Thing, Aliens, etc. This is not a bad thing if you are listing or reading this book and have not seen these titles in media, but it is a bit derivative.

Still, I enjoyed the ride and I would recommend to people looking for a quick story burn that's entertaining.

Fine novella presented as a novel

Decent story slam full of very familiar tropes. Zero character development and very short. Would not have used a $15 credit on it but would buy when it inevitably goes on sale.

Ch 9–why am I still reading?

I’m nine chapters in and still trying to find the point.
Nothing happens. You keep reading and reading and…NOTHING HAPPENS.

I couldn't get through Chapter 1

The storyline seemed brilliant. Seven strangers wake up not knowing who they are. My favorite Genre is PA fiction, and this seemed to be a refreshing take. Unfortunately the author reveals his American Political bias in the first chapter. One of the Characters makes a face of disdain and can't say the name of the 45th president! Ha! like in a situation like that, that would happen. I'll be returning it. I'm sure it only gets worse. The author writes fantasy.

big fan of Anthony Ryan but this is a novella at best. very bland, not very engaging. give it a try but not at full price.
