Resumen del Editor

Have you ever felt stuck? If so, you are not alone. As a 36-year-old wife, mother, and corporate executive, Dena Jansen’s life looked successful by society’s standards. But she found herself at an intersection - stranded at real-life crossroads in her life.

Over a matter of years, darkness and doubt slowly crept in, leaving her unsure and unsettled in her life, marriage, and career. And after stalling out multiple times and nearly wrecking everything, she finally grabbed hold of a life-saving truth: She had a choice to make. She could stay stuck, or she could try and find new roads that would lead to the peace and joy she was looking for.

With a glimmer of hope, Dena embraced the gifts of curiosity and grace and began a journey of self-discovery. And she chose to believe in a new truth: She was meant for more and could no longer settle.

In Road to Hope, Dena invites you to join her as she wanders the roads she traveled and take anything you need from her story to help you in yours. She shares how she grew from a woman who doubted her path to one who is confident and ready for the next adventure. And she wants you to experience a similar shift. And more than that, she believes you can.

Great book for women who feel stuck on auto-pilot

4.5 STARS. Author Dena Jansen narrated her memoir and that was an excellent choice and was professionally performed. Hearing Dena's words, in Dena's own voice and with her emphasis on words and her feelings behind them to the book to the next level. Dena has a startling level of self-awareness and her analytical brain allows her to attack her problems and the solutions with precision.

I love that Dena's trajectory isn’t a solid slope up. It’s up/down, two steps forward, sometimes ten steps back. And I love that she acknowledges that like all of us, even when we feel on fire, it doesn’t take much for a set-back. Confidence is easily capsized and the fire doused.

“God, help me figure out what self-love is all about … but more importantly, God, please just help me find a place to take a nap. Thanks God. Amen.”

One thing that caught my attention was how she carved out significant quiet time and self-care time. Full-time job, marriage, school-aged kids? How in the world she finds time for herself and her morning ritual and reading all the self-help books and spending time journaling in self-reflection, I truly don't understand. When I was in that stage in life, it was a good day if I got a shower.

I hope to write a full review at some point, but suffice it to say I recommend the book particularly for those who are in a place in life where they feel stuck and for those in auto-pilot mode, who one day realize they don’t know who they are or how you they got where they are. I am impressed and amazed that Dena's only in her 30s and figured it out so early.

Thank you to Lone Star Book Blog Tours and the author for providing me an audio code in exchange for my honest opinion -- the only kind I give.
