A different point of view.

Selena’s Secret was written from the reporter Maria’s experience during the time of Selena fighting for her life from a fatal gunshot wound, the heartbreaking news, when Yolanda locking herself in her truck with her gun, the trial, and on.

I read that other reader’s did not like how Maria sided with Yolanda in this book, but after listening to it myself.. it was clear that Maria did her journalistic duty by remaining as neutral as possible to uncover and report this sad time in our Latin community.

Maria definitely left it in a way that you can still form your own opinion about the matter. Which for most of us.. it is if we dislike Yolanda and/or believe she is guilty. (For me? Yes and YES!)

She remained respectful of the Quintanilla AND Saldívar family. Which I admired because regardless.. these are real families dealing with real heartache. One is forever missing a daughter, sister, and wife. The other is dealing with the public shame a daughter and sister has done.. they might miss having that person in their day to day as well.

Maria did a great job not breaking the “off the record” code with this book. She does not tarnish Selena’s legacy either. Maria even reminds us that we are all human and have made mistakes. Especially being that young. Which I completely agree! 110%

I recommend this book for those who love Selena and want to know about her life.

The only kind of negative thing I can say is that Maria repeats information word to word. It doesn’t happen a lot though. I think I caught it twice. Each time was only a sentence or two. So, it’s not too bad. Just something I noticed.

Overall? Good book that gives you a different perspective during that time.

i like it too much because MARIA CELESTE ARRARAS is the narrator for her own book, she is narrating her own book, this is awesome. It's a lot of good information to hear, interviews and stuff , o do really like it.

Maria Nailed it!!!!!

The narrated to perfection, Maria takes us on a very real journey; almost going back in time, Maria takes you right back to 1995. Her accent is authentic and her words are real. You will certainly enjoy this delightful and informative book.

Worth the read

I’m not sure the reviews are so low for this book. I found Maria’s writing very interesting and informative. She explained Selena’s story from two different perspectives. Great book!

Hooked

I love Selena and love hearing all stories about her. I was hooked from the first chapter. If you love her it’s a must read

This book was just ok. There is no big secret revealed and for true Selena Fans , there isn’t anything new in this book.
You see more Yolanda’s side/view which we all know she’s full of lies and is straight up delusional.
The readers impressions of others is funny . Especially when she does Yolanda’s voice lol

The writing was great.

I loved the story and the details. The title is misleading as the secret is never revealed.

I appreciated how the entire ordeal was compacted into a few hours with no straight forward opinions. Look forward to more of her work.

the secret is still a secret

You only get bits and pieces. your never told completely what the secret is . It leaves you to come up with your own conclusion. It has good details about Selena and the trial. But beats around the bush on the secret
