Acerca de esta escucha

This groundbreaking book from sex educator and YouTube phenomenon Laci Green has everything you’ve ever wanted to know about sex, sexuality, pleasure, and your body.

Let’s be honest: most of us think about sex a lot, and we have plenty of unanswered questions: What’s the best way to talk to my partner about what I want? How do I figure out my sexuality? How do I have sex safely? What does an orgasm actually feel like?

Laci Green - a sex educator and YouTuber who’s been hailed by Time magazine as the millennial Dr. Ruth - has built a platform of millions of followers by answering sex-related questions frankly, nonjudgmentally, and hilariously.

Now Laci brings her signature style and voice to a comprehensive book about the multitude of issues and concerns that go along with sexuality: anatomy, consent, LGBTQ issues, STI and pregnancy prevention, sexual empowerment, healthy relationships, myth-busting, and more.

Sex Plus is the first book of its kind: empowering, sex-positive, and cool. Comprehensive, honest, and vetted by a range of medical experts, this book will help you take control of your sex life.

After all, knowledge is pleasure.

Fascinating

This was a very interesting and insightful book. It covers a broad range of topics and, even though some of them didn't directly relate to me, I still feel like this book is an immense trove of knowledge and understanding.

Sex Education as It Should Be

This book is not the Kuma Satra or the Joy of Sex. What Sex Plus is, should be the standard for sex education. Well written in an easy going, relatable style. I particularly liked the chapters on consent and identity. Self identifying as belonging to the gray hair crowd I still learned a lot and it demanded adjustments to my base thinking. I particularly wish, however, that many copies of Sex Plus had been prominently displayed on the non-fiction end cap at my catholic high school's library. Oh, the mental stress that could have been alleviated for so many.
Why a book in the internet age? Because it is a wonderful single stop of factual information without the endless keyword search porn results, hijack attempts into religious shaming, and the ubiquity of wrong. Read or listen to Sex Plus, the only demands it makes of you are positive for yourself and more importantly others.

Wow! Borderline perfect book for oung girls

This should the quintessential Book on the topic of sex and relationships for every girl from the ages of about 13 to 23. You can arguably go a little younger than that if you leave certain chapters for later in life or go over them with them. Book is much more geared towards women than men and couples of a younger age could get something out of it, but I can't imagine a young couple reading a sex book together. Guys won't get too much, if anything, out of this. I really wanted to deduct a star for the way some content is covered. Basically I'll just say that stereotypes work both ways. In 2021 we know that being racist, homophobic and sexist are all wrong. There are a select few that don't. These numbers aren't what the mainstream media would like you to believe because it's better for ratings. There are parts of this book where some of these topics were covered in a way that comes across as reverse stereotyping to me. It's faint and more like it could've been worded differently than actually hate that we see a lot of these days. But if I were to word something towards women, LGBTQ+ members etc that was of equal value, I'd be hearing about it from somebody. This reverse stereotyping and the hate that goes along with it is a bigger problem than most people think it is these days. To explain why, I have to use an analogy. Do you know those swinging balls where you pick up the ball on the right and drop it and it smashes into the pile of balls and sends the one on the left up into the air. The one on the left then comes back down and smashes into the pile and forces the one on the right back up into the air? Racism, homophobia, sexism and all that stuff is the equivalent of the first ball smashing into the pile and sending up the other one. Where we are now as a society is where the second ball coming down and smashing into the pile is. The problem with this is that just like the right ball knocked the left one up, the left one is now gonna knock the right one up and it's actually going to take longer for things to settle down. Very few people see this and it's quite often forgotten that the vast majority of the world is the four balls in the middle who are tired of getting knocked around from both sides. This problematic reverse stereotyping was kept to a minimum, but it did appear in this book a couple times. The closest I can come to another gripe is that she mentioned that scare photos in sex ed class of STIs were photoshoped and worse case scenarios that kept people from understanding the true dangers of them. There were stories told in this book that I feel are worst case scenarios that are highly unlikely to happen again and they weren't portrayed as such. I think it leads to some reverse stereotyping of gys here and could lead to unnecessary fear in some situations and not being cautious enough in others. Ultimately, this is an absolutely fantastic book otherwise and contains loads and loads of fabulous and accurate information. You can tell the author put in a lot of time and effort and genuinely seems to care about the subject.
