Analysis of human thinking processes

Absolutely brilliant in the analysis of human thinking processes, and all the foibles involved. It points out our arrogance and ignorance when it comes to our fast, instinctive reactions, as opposed to the slow thought processes involved with contemplation and analysis of a situation.

Enormous quantities of fruitful things

This book is marvelous. I slanted such enormous quantities of fruitful things from this book. That being expressed, we must be in control of our thinking method. This book surely helps in such a way; it makes us better in fundamental authority, improves our intuition and be progressively creative in basic reasoning. An exceedingly recommended book to appreciate essential thinking. I was truly bewildered by seeing what number of basic proposals gathered in such a short book. The maker finished an extraordinary movement.

Survival depended on it

The first observation, giving the title to the book, is that eons of natural selection gave us the ability to make a fast reaction to a novel situation. Survival depended on it. So, if we hear an unnatural noise in the bushes, our tendency is to run. Thinking slow, applying human logic, we might reflect that it is probably Johnny coming back from the Girl Scout camp across the river bringing cookies and that running might not be the best idea. However, fast thinking is hardwired.

Essential to the skill of constructive criticism

The value of the book, he states, is to give people the vocabulary to spot biases and to criticize the decisions of others: “Ultimately, a richer language is essential to the skill of constructive criticism.” I finished the book a few days ago and have found it useful in criticizing the writings of op-ed columnists.

Becomes even better on second listen

This book becomes even better on second listen because it is dense and contains many ideas. How do you make decisions? The author describes many ways in which one can make mistakes in decision making, and how we can each become more aware of likely mistakes so as to avoid them.

A brilliant book

I believe this book is for people who need to take a timeout on modern fast paced materialist living and open the mind the ancient alternatives of achievable tranquility and peace of mind in your day to day life.

This is the real deal when it comes to dissecting

This is the real deal when it comes to dissecting the shortcomings of current microeconomic thinking although, in some ways, the title misleads: this is a fascinating screed about instinct versus thought - and takes us for a tour of some amazing fallacies and tricks the mind plays on us, both for evolutionary purposes (fast reactions) and for those that are not (not worrying about an overall experience of pain but rather only remembering the last moments).

Simply phenomenal information

There is a plethora of riveting, academic, and simply phenomenal information that one can gain from this listening. Not only would a listener feel less worried about abnormal events such as terrorism, but they may even gain a better understanding of mathematics too.
