Resumen del Editor

From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical martial-arts action.

Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds. Kelsier, Vin, Elend, Sazed, Spook, and the rest are now part of history - or religion.

Yet even as science and technology are reaching new heights, the old magics of Allomancy and Feruchemy continue to play a role in this reborn world. Out in the frontier lands known as the Roughs, they are crucial tools for the brave men and women attempting to establish order and justice. One such is Waxillium Ladrian, a rare Twinborn, who can Push on metals with his Allomancy and use Feruchemy to become lighter or heavier at will.

After 20 years in the Roughs, Wax has been forced by family tragedy to return to the metropolis of Elendel. Now he must reluctantly put away his guns and assume the duties and dignity incumbent upon the head of a noble house. Or so he thinks, until he learns the hard way that the mansions and elegant tree-lined streets of the city can be even more dangerous than the dusty plains of the Roughs.

AoL Sequel: Wanted Dead or Alive

Yes there are quite a few loose ends (with even more added in the last moments) considering this isn't mentioned as a series. I'd guess its intended to be the prologue for the next Mistborn trilogy but who knows. Beyond that this is what I have to say of the story. This isn't a western, just think of it as Mistborn with a bounty hunter as the main character with guns and trains in the mix. The provided summary explains as much as can be.

There are only three protagonists in this book compared to the many major and minor of Final Empire (400 less pages will do that.) Wax, his sidekick and a girl who I'll avoid names to keep spoilers out. Wax reminds me of Elend (but less classy and twenty years older). He's interesting, your basic lawman with a past but like Elend spends too much time thinking to be an effective main character but he is. This causes the build up to be sluggish and passively sluggish at that but interesting to see how the world has changed.

His sidekick like Kelsier in the first series is more interesting and I enjoyed every scene he was in. He's also one of the new allomancers, with the ability to slow down time outside a bubble he makes and uses it in a very fun and unique way. If there is a sequel I hope to see more of him.

Lastly there's the girl. She's educated, good with a rifle and around when it counts but like some other female protagonists of sanderson's, sort of just falls into line and most attempts to be remarkable are foiled. What doesn't make sense is that Sanderson does good female characters (in my knowledge and opinion) and there are at least two in this book that are interesting and entertaining. They just aren't first choice as the main heroine sometimes but he is improving in character building.

The magic however is better than ever. As I believe Sanderson said, its not what you can do with magic that's interesting, its what you can't. With no actual mistborn in this novel, there is no one to be the living disaster known as VIn . No devastating force on one side or another (but Wax comes close in top shape). It matters much more here how you use your powers than just how much of them or fuel you have.

The narration is what I expected being a mistborn and wheel of time listener, enjoyable and clear. So as long as there's a another book coming at some point (though I'm tiring of in the air endings) I can easily give this book a four out of five.

(PS- Kill all hopes of having any Kandra or Koloss in this book. The Koloss are mentioned but never explained and the Kandra are never hinted at.)

Imagine a Louis L'amour novel... with magic

Brandon Sanderson did a great job of creating a sort of western/gun-slinging feel mixed with the Mistborn world. The Narrator does a great job of bringing this book to life.
Described in terms of other books/authors this book is like an Orson Scott card novel, X-men, a Louis L'amour western, and Sherlock Holmes. :D Keep it up Brandon Sanderson!

i didn't think it would be that good

this book is easily better than the mistborn trilogy. An interesting future with nice combos in powers.

Whats great about this book is how several times it cracked me up laughing. its really amazing. And whats great about it there are really interesting twists in the end of the story, which is for sure followed by another book later on.

highly recommended....
P.S. if you are little off from the last book in the trilogy, you should read it to understand some things through the book.. but it isn't a must.

enjoy it.

Another 5 Stars Across the Board!

Kramer's narration was EXCELLENT (as it was in ALL of the other "Mistborn" books), and again, Sanderson leaves me feeling as if I'm not even worthy to REVIEW his work... The more you think back about the book(s), the more Layers you see to it, and the more you suddenly realize you missed "WHILE listening to it"...

PLEASE let there be another book in this latest (Continuation?) book of the "Mistborn" series! Every book LEAPS ahead of the last in writing skill, and plot twists (while the excellent "Twists" are still being based on the most COMMON of plot subjects!)...

I am especially pleased that Sanderson STICKS TO "Friends and trusted Allies CAN BE 'Trusted', WITHOUT suddenly stabbing you in the back just as a plot twist"... The central message needs to be reinforced again and again, and it needs to be LEARNED: "It's better to trust and risk being betrayed, than to live life trusting NO ONE"

A Wonderful Book and Performance Once Again!

I was very excited 2 months ago when I saw that there would be another Mistborn Book that I was wating for the day it would be released and purchased it as soon as possible. The story is great and it quite different from the other Mistborn Books. If you are a Brandon Sanderson and/or Michael Kramer fan you will not be disappointed and you do not need to read the previous Mistborn series to make sense of the story. Of course the book is better if you have read the previous series, so I would put in the time as the previous books are also fantastic. I know allot of people where disappointed about the length and I was as well. However, understanding that Brandon is very busy! hopefully on finishing the Wot series, and follow ups to the Way of Kings, I could understand why this book is not as long as I would have liked. The story does have a concrete end and can stand alone as a complete short novel. It is only the Epilogue that allows for follow up book for a series if the new characters and setting cathes on with fans. Enjoyable and leaves you wanting more and more. Overall I had a great time and I know if you are a fan you will as well.

Highly Entertaining

Great storyline-a Allomantic Sherlock Holmes/Gunslinger mystery with a familiar yet different feel that is appropriate for the Mistborn world 300 years later. Michael Kramer again does a masterful job with the characters. Snappy, witty dialogue and a fun plot lead me to finish this book in two days.

I love many of the peripheral characters and hope to see them in the upcoming series. It's obvious that this is the next step.

Wax and Wayne are great

Love the characters in this book. The banter between Wax and Wayne is fantastic. Detective vibes mixed with the Mistborn fantasy and… a western?? Such a weird combo but a fun read.

Sanderson is the modern Tolkien

As always I am extremely impressed with Sanderson’s expert world building. Michael Kramer is an excellent narrator and brings the story to life
