This 1769 edition is highly sought after due to being more reader/listener friendly than the 1611 since many typos were fixed.... Best recording. Unmatched.
Finding a better recording of Call of the Wild is impossible. Bikel’s voice is like a dark river over smooth rocks. He never recorded books without each book meaning lots to him. A performance with clipped consonants, and a kind of undulating tempo. His accent is everywhere. Pre war Austria, Israel, Shakespeare’s training in London, then California.
