Informs more than it entertains.

I bought this book because I wanted to know more of the story behind the musical, "Hamilton". Both come from the same source material. I found this version somewhat disjointed and difficult to follow as a narrative. Nevertheless, I did finish it. Although Eliza Hamilton outlived her husband by 50 years, her accomplishments on behalf of widows, slaves and orphans remains an afterthought to her husband's biography. She deserves to have her story told.

Good overall..at points challenging though.

Not really a history buff & a lot of history provided here. Good story overall.

Good Story

I liked the story, but did not care for the narration. There was a lot of dialogue spoken by males in the story and the narrator’s attempt to make her voice sound different ruined it for me.

Colleen Marlo's voice sounds like a robot

interesting story but the robotic inflection of the narrator made the book hard going. Too bad.

great book

loved this book. I didnt realize it was based on a true story. people that are into history would love this book.

A beautiful story of very deep love between two truly remarkable people - our country is better because of both of them.

Though I have also ready Chernow’s Hamilton first, this book is another dimension - dedication, selfless duty and sacrifice - love, honor, tenderness, but also flaws, failures, forgiveness - and the unbroken bonds of forever love. While I was very, very sad at the loss of Hamilton who was truly a providential hero of American, I could not help crying in the last two chapters of this book - the sadness of the tremendous loss to our country, but that they should have both been blessed with a long old age together, and while I believe the word “Amazing” is used far too frequently and easily, I am speechless and amazed at Eliza Hamilton. She is the best of wives, and the best of women.

Kept my attention and I have a short span

Pretty decent book. Held my attention all the way through and I have a short window in which to win me over. Felt like she rushed through Hamilton's life up until the affair at which point she seemed to slow the pace down but once that was over she ran thru the rest of the story like a horse in the Kentucky Derby. Then again, the title of the book is The Hamilton AFFAIR so...

I definitely learned more about Hamilton and his family. However, the book made it seem like his wife was angry with him from the point of the affair onward, which is not the case. After his death, she worked tiredly to get his name cleared with regards to other false accusations. Although I'm sure she was hurt and embarrassed because if his affair, her actions tell me she forgave him. I think she truly loved Hamilton through the good and the bad.

Very Good intense Love Story

This book will give one a complete Life of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Hamilton love for themselves and the country.

To me the storyline was chopped up too much

After forever dwelling on the childhoods of protagonists the story later-on gets cut seemingly whenever things get interesting.

Excellent story telling

I loved this book. The narrative is well written & illuminating. Not just an endless list of facts but real substance & context into the life & marriage & heroism of Alexander Hamilton. Highly recommended.
