Resumen del Editor

Literary fiction for Women.

A feast of family can be a plate load of problems!

It's the '60s. Modernity and tradition clash as two newlywed couples set up house together. Dee and her daughter Valerie move with their husbands into a modern glass house Valerie built in a proudly rural Los Altos, California, neighborhood. When their young relatives start showing up and moving in, the neighbors get suspicious. Then a body is found in the backyard and the life they are trying to build comes undone.

Father Mike is back to guide Dee through a difficult time with humor and grace, even as his own life is unraveling. Now he's going to have to take some of his own advice about love.

The sequel to The Sheep Walker s Daughter, The Lyre and the Lambs explores the passions that draw people together and the faith it takes overcome trauma.

People in Glass Houses . . .

California in the 1960s . . . ten years have passed since Dee's mother passed away and since she learned that she had a twin sister in Spain . . . and since Dee's daughter, Valerie wrote her book about the family . . . Dee and Roger have finally gotten married, after years of a long-distance relationship . . . and Valerie, having decided she really does want to have a traditional family, including babies, has married Andy . . . the long vacant lot, where Dee's mother, Leora's house once stood, and then burned to the ground has a new glass house built upon it . . . it is a turbulent time in American history . . . Vietnam war protests, the draft, and a generation of young people testing authority like never before . . . yet nothing was as it seemed . . . this was the era that I grew up in . . . so this book is very relevant to me . . . the narration could have been better . . . but the story was spot on . . . when Dee's friend loses her husband to suicide and they find him hanging from a tree, Dee comes alongside her friend with love and compassion . . . and Father Mike, true to his faith does the same . . . his ministry to the troubled youth in the neighborhood, despite the complaints of others, is steadfast and confident . . . as the glass house continues to "fill up" with extended family, more and more ire is drawn from the neighborhood . . . yet the family takes it in stride for the most part . . . watching the family grow in this second book is like a gentle salve to the soul . . . both in size and maturity of faith, the family grows in ways that blesses not only each other, but their community . . . and the listener . . . there is healing, love, mercy and grace in The Lyre and the Lambs . . . don't miss it . . .
