good book

Despite some of the other comments I think its a good book with a good story and the narrator did a good job.

Slow and Underwhelming

Story is very slow, sometimes feels disjointed like he wasn't sure where he was taking the characters.

The narration is amazing, the only reason I actually finished the series.

Narration issues

The book is good but a bit slow paced. This is made worse by the slow cadence used by the narrator. He also tends to exaggerate the accents to the point that some of them are comical.

I found the story very difficult to follow. I like the overall plot, but the constant shifting between characters was confusing. I think just focusing on one main character would have made the stories better. Overall, it was okay.

Well done, not great, but well done series.

The performance is the only way I got through this. His unique and varied voicing of each character was a great benefit to this reading.
For me, there were too many characters to track and follow in each of the books. Lots of quick twists and unexpected left turn have left me quite confused several times. Almost like the writer got tired of a direction and killed someone off so he could write in another direction. So expect radical changes and somewhat strange or luke warm endings.
ADVICE: If you purchase the 3 book series, it might mentally work better if you finish a book and wait a few days to start the next.

great imagination

really good book. I just listen and loose myself in the story. the author did a really great job.

Love this!!!

This saga is one for the ages, for it so boldly blends aspects of fantasy and real life. While listening to this during preceding weeks of a national election, I realized many similarities between this literary universe and our own. A religion crusaded against specific people for how they were born, as well as those sympathetic to those people’s plight. This was done by fear and hatred. All the while, so many deeper histories are uncovered and realized.

This place of magic, monsters, and millennia is one of my new favorites.

What a good deal!

I got this with some misgivings because, well, 50 hours. It seemed like a huge commitment and I find that these epics so often lose their momentum and become less interesting once the world building phase ends.
Somehow Huston largely avoids that fate. Perhaps it's because, while we have the inevitable youth who unexpectedly finds himself thrust into the role of hero, we also have a number of more interesting characters whose stories feel equally important.
I'm grateful I took the chance because this is one of the better epic fantasies that I've read and cost per minute is amazing. Ha ha.
I don't usually give books 5 stars and it's not that this book is perfect. It's more a 5 star rating for exceeding my expectations by a long shot. I heartily recommend it if you're in the mood for an epic fantasy quest or if you've been wondering if you should give this genre a chance.

wtf was the point

I couldn't finish. Just seemed pointless. If there is like 7 more books coming I could see it going somewhere but I didn't really like what I've heard so far.
