The Second Wife by Miranda Rijks is a pretty good novel where no one within is trustworthy. That being said, I never warmed to Mia as she was insufferable and annoying. I can't pinpoint why; I just dreaded her chapters through to the end.

I rate The Second Wife 3 stars. The guilty party/parties were my second guess early on, but I still wasn't certain, letting me enjoy the guessing game. However, some parts were outlandish, others entirely too convenient (multiple characters untangling mysteries with one thought seemingly from nowhere), which detracted from the story.

Penelope Rawlins, Jodie Harris, and Peter Noble are good narrators.

Good story, awful narration

Enjoy the story but the narrator doing any voices other than the two main women is awful. Doing any of the peripheral characters especially the men whoever that narrator is is unlistenable. If you can get past that I’d give it a shot. Held my interest the entire time, which is very rare for me.

Good Story - Great Reminder

I was vacillating on my review and rating and realized as the author had hoped I did in fact like both of the main characters. So why was I leaning toward a lower rating. I realized that just because I didn’t like certain characters or the way the storyline turned didn’t mean it took away from the writing or the way the plot unraveled. Bad guys are definitely bad and goodness ultimately prevails and after some surprising twists the ending was good.

Narration was good for both!
