A predictable summer read

I couldn’t wait for this book only to be slightly disappointed by the predictable plot points. Overall the story was good but I wouldn’t give it another listen.

Mediocre

This book was okay, not my favorite by her. It seemed predictable and somewhat boring.

Narrators almost made me tap out …… sheeeesh

I love EG but golllllllyyyyyy the narrators they picked for this one. Damn. I almost didn’t make it through. Horrible

Story is very YA and production is terrible

I think I'd have given it three stars if I'd read the book on paper. You know you're getting a beach read with an Emily Giffin book and that's what I was looking for. If I hadn't waited on Pre-order for 6 months I would not have completed the book. The story is meh, but I hung in there. The narration is a mess. Each character narrates all three players in their chapter. The girls are less irritating, but Tyson's character almost drove me nuts. In his chapters, Tyson is narrated by JD Jackson and that works fine, but where he speaks narrated by one of the two female narrators he has two VERY different voices, inflection, rasp. I can't believe this made it through production.

Not her best work

Maybe I would have liked the book more if the narration wasn’t so AWFUL. I don’t think it’s the actors but the casting or something. It’s hard to keep up with.

Absolutely awful performance voices

Every year I look forward to Emily Griffin’s book being released. I don’t understand why these Voice actors would have been chosen it absolutely ruined the book. I had to stop halfway through could not even focus on the plot or the story because the voices are so distracting. Disappointed!

Great Narration, Terrible Story

Just because a story is set in Capri does not mean it is a “beach read.” This book was anything but light summer fare, but if you are going to deal with weighty subjects, at least give them the consideration they deserve. Giffin blithely throws in, and then blows by, important and serious topics such as suicide, alcoholism, and major life choices.

This is just a jumble of ideas crammed in to one book. The story suffers. The character development suffers. The book tries too hard, yet not hard enough.

The narration, however, was spot-on. Hence the three-star overall rating - the five-star narration saved the one-star story.

Not her greatest

It was not one of the best story lines. The male character voice was annoying. Was expecting more.

Had to stop half way through

I couldn’t wait for this one- Love me some EG but this was not her best.

Annoying voices

I usually love Emily Giffin books but I found this one really disappointing. The actors reading the story grated on my nerves, especially Lainey’s voice. I had to force myself to finish the book. I was really looking forward to this book, but the story it self wasn’t great. I don’t think I would even recommend it.
