Acerca de esta escucha
It’s been thirty years since his father went missing. Now there’s a body, can he finally find out why?
When a man’s body is discovered in a Swiss glacier thirty years after he went missing, his son, Foster Treherne, hopes he’ll finally have closure on what happened to the father he never met. But then the autopsy reveals signs of a struggle, and what was assumed to be a tragic accident suddenly looks more sinister.
Foster tracks down his father’s old friends, but when he starts to ask questions it becomes clear that there’s something they don’t want to tell him. While some are evasive, others seem to wish the body had never been found. What exactly is their connection to each other, and why are they so reluctant to discuss the day his father disappeared? Who are they trying to protect?
If he wants to uncover what really happened, Foster must follow the trail of secrets and lies - no matter how devastating the consequences, and what they might reveal about his father. Because the truth can only stay buried for so long....

I wrap my arms around the tree trunk, pressing my cheek against it until the bark digs in and the missing poster is finally secured. I try not to look at the photograph on it. At the features so similar to mine. Perhaps this will be the year someone comes forward. Were crucial mistakes made by detectives from the very beginning? Could the pressure of living two lives have led my sister to run away - or even end it? Or did someone in her tight circle of friends and family have reason to want her gone? The death of a teenage Amish girl in a cornfield looks like an accident, but sheriff Serenity Adams suspects foul play. To solve the murder, she must investigate the nearby Amish community with the help of a man who was shunned years ago. At first glance, the case seems obvious. The poor girl was probably accidently shot during hunting season, but when the elders of the Amish community and even the girl's parents react with uncaring subdued behavior, Serenity becomes suspicious.

Reading Wignall is like watching Micalangelo sculpt a person emerging from stone.
Character undergirds the artist and the others met here. Not an action story as others Wignall has written so well. But the intricate dance of personalities and circumstance is intriguing and memorable.

it's a good book.
An enjoyable listen, with a good ending. Not startling, but not that awkward/uncertain kind that ruins a solid book. I'll keep enjoying this author. He definitely knows his art. (pun intended)

Great performance by Mikael Naramore
An intriguing story that spans the decades of an orphan who's parents were well-known by others, but not him. An unexpected find of his lost father's corpse preserved in a glacier begins his search for the truth about his parents past and his future. It is a well written story that pulls you in quickly and for me, kept me reading with interest wondering along with the main character, how will this end. If you enjoy listening to Audible books, the performance by Mikael Naramore is excellent.

Glad I took a chance on it
It's always hard to buy a book without any reviews. I took a chance on this one and enjoyed it. It took me two or three chapters to get used to the narrator. I found that when the other characters were introduced the narration all came together. The ending could have gone another chapter, but the main story was solved. I listened to it over two days and enjoyed it.

Disappointing!
I have read most, if not all, of Kevin Wignall's earlier novels and found them excellent -very well thought out and all were engrossing. This one starts off very well but it is long and drawn out and the climax is disappointing and unlikely to say the least.
