Resumen del Editor

Small town reporter Mia Durante finds herself having brunch with the President of the United States on the day civilization comes to an end.

An electromagnetic pulse blinds the U.S. Cars crash. Planes fall. Chaos reigns. Power is restored within minutes, but it’s already too late. Russian nukes are falling. U.S. allies around the world are already wiped out. The United States will cease to exist inside of five minutes.

After giving the order to launch a full-scale retaliation–dooming the planet–the president, his staff, Secret Service and those lucky enough to be visiting the White House, are whisked below ground, where they board several Earth Escape Pods. As the EEPs launch into Earth orbit, missiles descend.

Less than forty survive the end of the world. When they return, they’re greeted by survivors of a different sort. The bloodbath that follows leaves Durante and nine other survivors on the run. They find themselves fighting for survival in a world in which only torment remains and where death is the only escape.

Torment is award-winning author Jeremy Robinson’s first pulse-pounding horror novel (originally penned under his Jeremy Bishop pseudonym). It's a horrific tale of post-apocalyptic terror that is one part zombie story and one part Dante’s Inferno. The story asks hard questions and generates strong emotions in everyone who listens to it—anger, excitement, and most of all: fear. This book asks the question that everyone is afraid to answer: are you ready?

Why all the hate?

This was a damn good book. if you didn't like it, stop taking yourself so seriously. It's a novel, not a doctoral Jensen creative writing assignment. just enjoy something a fellow human being poured time and energy into for your enjoyment. Once all the books are published I'll definitely re-listen to all these books. When the story ends and you yell hell yes or WTF!? That is a win for the author.

Definitely Not Rainbows and Butterflies...

This was a crazy book! I am a fan of the zombie genre, and this one was quite a bit different. There was such a sense of helplessness transmitted by our survivors, as these zombies they faced never stopped coming for them. The government's role in everything that was happening was intriguing and frustrating. I enjoyed the audiobook immensely and thought the story kept my attention to the end. I'm not going to lie - I did not care for the ending. It didn't ruin the book for me, but it didn't work for me either.

I wasn't ready. None of us are ready.

This was a very hard read, but in the best of ways. Robinson wins again.

A unique horror

Damn this book took an already terrifying concept like a zombie apocalypse and made it scarier. I love that it also stuck the ending, a lot of books in this genre put a happy ending but this does it the right way. Strongly recommend this to horror fans and I look forward as to how this connects to the rest of the infinite timeline.

great addition

😳😳😳 This hits at the soul! It's the perfect re-release addition to the infinite timeline. This scary shiz pops up in a couple other JR books, but this book is the origin. As a stand alone Torment is well named as an insane rollercoaster with no clearanswers. I'm excited to get more from this thread in the mergers.

Confusing and frustrating

I read this book and waited patiently for explanations on what exactly happened only to be disappointed when the book just suddenly ended. I kept hoping the author would shed some light on the world he created. Why would a nuclear war cause the kind of horrors he described? The narration was excellent, but the story left me frustrated.

Fire?

dude your books so far are amazing, I’m not mad about religion or ?. I just hate the stupid writing about zombies. Hay gas, body gone no worries. No disrespect, all writers of zombie books do it. On the roof of the first season of the walking dead all I said was Molotov. Really we are that stupid.

Not what I expected

I love zombie/post-apocalyptic books and this was definitely a fun read. Towards the end it was so hard to put the book down. It really wasn’t as bad as some people are making it out to be, but I think the hate may come from the ending. I definitely wasn’t expecting it and it put a bad taste in my mouth (spoiler: it definitely made me a bit depressed and I couldn’t read anything quite as serious), but if you consider it like a horror movie it’s actually pretty good and cool. I think I would have liked to know the ending before reading ( because who likes to expect something but get something else?), so just as a warning (SPOILER) the ending is not a happy ending.

That being said, I CANNOT wait to see how torment is connected to the infinite series. I’m contemplating reading Jeremy Robinson’s infinite II, but I don’t want to have to read infinite I and NPC before reading infinite II. I just finished Khaos after reading the Dark AND IM SO EXCITED TO SEE HOW TORMENT WILL BE CONNECTED IN SINGULARITY!!! it seems like torment doesn’t have a sequel, and though it may not have a sequel for the main characters in torment, but the aftermath and world created by torment will have a sort of sequel!! Also, I’m excited to see that some group of characters will have a chance against these zombies!

I wanted to like this book.

I really did. I’m a huge Jeremy Robinson fan. I qualify that with I haven’t read any of the kaiju books.
I really wanted to like this book, but it should be a novella. I kept jumping ahead further to the end chapters and still the same. It just felt drawn out.
I can see how there’s a small part that ties in with the infinite timeline. In my mind it’s small though.
Why did I give this book 5 stars when I didn’t like it? Because you may like it and I don’t want to be a downer. Bray is great. Really great.
Use a free credit it and give this book a try. You may be different.
