Truly amazing story. Very inspirational and gave me hope in my walk

You will never believe send a man like this we have such a great story. I could not get enough I wish the book continue going and was longer. Not because it wasn’t enough but because it’s such a great story

My dad and I love this book and Danny Trejo. My dad and I are from different generations and I love the fact that we both are huge fans of Danny Trejo. My dad grew up in 80s Los Angeles and he was ecstatic that we both are fans of one of the baddest Mexican Americans to ever live. Viva La Raza y Viva Danny Trejo!

What a life!! But maybe read it instead?

Danny Trejo’s life has been truly remarkable. To climb from such depths and make something positive out of what was undeniably a negative beginning, is a testament to his grit and humanity. He seems like an awesome person and the next time I see one of his movies, it will be through different lenses, knowing now all that he has been through and how much he has come to truly love people. I love listening to memoirs, especially when read by the author, and I can’t imagine anyone else performing this book. It just wouldn’t work. I mean, who else could be Danny Trejo? No one! But that being said, it was not an “easy” listen. He is not a great oral reader, and the odd phrasing and inconsistencies with prosody were a challenge for me at times. I definitely recommend this book, but I might be more inclined to recommend that it be read in the traditional fashion. If you choose to listen, just be prepared.

Loved This Book

I have listened to over 700 audiobooks and the raw honesty and inspiring nature of this book makes it my favorite. Danny Trejo is living proof that anyone no matter how bad their life is can turn it around and stop being a victim, whether it be of someone or something like addiction, and find a new way of life through god and service to others. Some have said his narration is lacking while I think its on point and makes it that much more real. I don't want him to act or read a scrip, I want him to tell his own truth and story and here he has done just that. I came away thinking this must be the most down to earth, relatable and even approachable actor in Hollywood. The good he has done in his life with little or no fan fare is inspiring and an example to us all. Thanks Danny! Rich t

Amazing Life Story

Danny is completely and utterly honest. Most people know him from his numerous rolls in Hollywood, however no one really knows his back story. This is a must read. He is a devoted father, friend and sponsor to those addicts who are desperate for help. For all the bad things he has done in his early years, God is smiling on him now. God Bless you Danny Trejo!

I truly enjoyed this book, it was an eye opening experience into what some people go thru and still manage to come out on top. A story about triumph and all the heartache that accompanies it.
