This guy knows how to write a compelling story.

Most of this book is watching a child be trained into a monster. He doesn't quite figure out that he is one by the end of the book.

And I don't mean monster as in someone bad. I mean monster as in someone who has no right to be as strong as he is at his level.

That's what happens when three old monsters train an ignorant child who harbors gratitude in his heart at all times.

Seriously, I was positively giddy to see the reactions of other cultivators when he fights for real.


We only get a taste of it at the end, but I cannot wait for the next book man.

Watch as three old monsters turn a new cultivator into one (without him even realizing). Can't wait for the next installment!

Great Story

Very laid back story something like Beware of Chicken but without that much humor. Very entertaining and enjoyable.

Solid slice of Wuxia

Good book nice light listen. Standard progression some combat mostly slice of life. Likeable main character. A few story elements left open for a bigger story "mystery".

Good start

The majority of this book revolves around training and establishing the cultivation rules of this world. So I got a little more exposition than I would like. Since this is the first book, I hope this is remedied in future books. The main plot was short but sweet and oh so satisfying. The narrator did a very good job.

 I’ve read and listen to most to all cultivation and weak to strong novels, and I can’t say that there has been one quite this compelling i’m very excited to see where this goes.

A slow burn with promise.

The book took a while to hook me. Between the overly sappy narration and the painfully slow first act, I almost lost interest in the book. You can only hear an MC described as the "Goodest Orphan Street-rat" so many times before you get sick of it. But once the training arc begins things get better. The narration is overly sappy for my taste, but the voice work wasn't too bad. They story hit all the right beats without being overly cliché. The book does a good job of setting up the MC as strong but not OP, and I look forward to seeing where the series goes.

A good beginning

This is a good beginning to what will hopefully be an interesting and exciting series. It does a good job of world building, and building momentum for the rest of the series, without dumping information.
The author introduces characters at a steady pace, and breaths life into them without giving away every detail. I look forward to the next book and am only saddened by the fact that reading a book goes faster then the publishing process.

A really good story!

This story has all the trimmings of a good cultivating story, along with some great characters, some solid story telling and all of it levined with some intersections of humor. I'm glad that I read it and I'm going to start the next one now.
