Acerca de esta escucha

A tangled web of lies, theft, and betrayal - one lawyer must determine if that is all his late father left him.

Ambitious young attorney Tom Crane is about to become a partner in a high-profile Atlanta law firm. But first he must clear one final matter from his docket: the closing of his deceased father’s law practice in his hometown of Bethel, Georgia. Killed in a mysterious boating accident, John Crane didn’t appear to leave his son anything except the hassle of wrapping up loose ends.

But instead of celebrating his promotion, Tom finds himself packing up his office, having suddenly been “consolidated”. To add insult to injury, that same night his girlfriend breaks up with him...by letter.

Returning to Bethel with no sense of his future and no faith to fall back on, Tom just wants to settle his father’s affairs and get back to Atlanta. But then he runs into an unexpected roadblock - two million dollars of unclaimed money stashed in a secret bank account. And evidence that his father’s death may not have been accidental. Worse still, a trail of data suggests his father played a role in an international fraud operation.

Along the way, he meets a woman who is as beguiling as she is beautiful. And her interest in the outcome of the case is just as high as his. She challenges Tom’s assumptions...and his faith. Now he must decide whom he can trust - and how far a father’s love can reach.

Beautifully written

A great plot and very well written. I didn’t want the nook to end. Once again Whitlow has outdone himself!!

God is our Vengeance

What an awesome, not stop listening to story, and the truth that the devil will do anything to keep people outside of God’s Kingdom through Jesus!

Great Story

The “what’s next question” added an extra mile to my walk each time I listened.

Another intriguing winner

This is another great book by Robert Whitlow. As usual, there was lots of intrigue, uncertainty, inspiration, and emotion. A broad range of characters enriched the entertaining storyline.

The narrator did well on acting the parts and on some voices. There were so many characters that it was a little beyond her ability to do good voices for all. One difficult thing is that there is a lot of narrative in this book along with the dialogues, and the narrator's reading of the narratives has an annoyingly repetitive intonation. Every sentence using practically the same voice inflection, without feeling. It got more difficult as the book went on.

Still, over all, an entertaining story and performance.

Great read

The thing I didn’t like, was how complicated the financial stuff was. It was very hard to understand.

It's good

It kept me guessing around every twist and turn. I liked how they took Tom Crane to the literal edge of complete ruin and death.

Interesting Story

The story was interesting and still believable. I enjoyed following along and didn’t expect some of the twists.

Only okay. Don’t require 15 words from me to rate mediocre work. The reader was atrocious, sounded like she was on 2x speed.

Not great reader, frustrating development

The reader over-exaggerates her character dialogue . Feels like she’s reading a story for kids/teens. Author gives a lame religious experience. If you are going to have a come-to-God experience in your storyline at least make the effort to actually share the true and complete gospel.
I was listening to a Grisham but stopped it as I didn’t want to listen to the immorality he was describing so began this one instead. Then I decided to try to compare the differences b/n the two writings. Whitlow gives too many unnecessary details that more distract you from the scene rather than draw you into it. I appreciate that Grisham instantly goes from dialogue to to hearing what individual characters are thinking whereas Whitlow more often just dictates to you. I did appreciate the premise the story was based on. Hopefully his writing gets better. Though I cannot usually get through a Grisham because of the vulgarities he is a far better writer.
