Acerca de esta escucha

In the midst of a bitter family feud, the much divided Rolland family is thrown together when news of their father's untimely passing places them on a red-eye flight from Seattle to Washington D.C. Although, they are physically close in the tight space of the aircraft, Rege, Mark, and Kit are at their farthest distance apart emotionally.

Until the unthinkable happens.

Two hours into the flight, missiles streak across the star-filled sky, the detonation of a nuclear warhead causes the plane to make a forced landing.

A family torn apart are now together living the inconceivable. Circumstances outside of their shelter are dire and the future far from certain.

America is devastated and crippled by the nuclear attacks. Rege, Mark, and Kit must chart out their path deciding what to do and where to go. What is right? What is wrong? Not only for the Rolland Family, but for everyone, survival is the top priority. Each day is a fight against the odds for water and food, while holding on to every ounce of hope they can live long enough to see tomorrow.

Not a bad book

I thought it would be more engaging. Its the same story of the destruction of the human race (aka civilization as we know it) due to nuclear blast. Not a bad book. I would probably listen to it again.

Excellence once again

Jacqueline Druga has a great understanding of what makes us scared. The stark reality of her books combined with the ebb and flow of the story will pull you into it as though you are living the terror. The story of a nuclear holocaust and those that are trying to survive afterwards is so real. You can't help but to care for the characters. You understand their motivation and can agree 100%. Rarely does a book get to me so much that I actually cry when a character dies. Not only has Ms. Druga made me cry over the loss of a character, but this is the second book by her that has moved me to tears. I definitely look forward to more from her in the future.

Mr. Wehrlen was amazing as always. He breathes life into the characters as well. I have listened to several books narrated by him and I look forward to more in the future.

I was given a free preview copy of this audiobook and I am leaving a voluntary review.

👍🏻

Not really what I expected in a post apocalyptic book. More drama than action. I did enjoy the whole family drama thing. A well told story that kept my attention. I liked it very much.

Andrew Wehrlen did a fantastic job as always. I love his work.

Love different take on apocalypse story

I’ve read and now listened to the story. Hearing it adds depth to the story. As if the characters are telling their story.

How many of us could survive without power. Or cars? This is the arc of the tale. Grab this. We all have time to listen to books. Enjoy!

One of the BEST books!!!

I so throughly enjoyed this book, I intend on listening to it all over again... Alas Babylon was also a truly fantastic story. The combination of references from Alas, Babylon so carefully interwoven into this story made it one of the best books on “ after the bomb” that I have listened to yet. The characters were people that you really cared about, and story evolved into a believable story line. There were no magic unbelievable feats of rescue here. One of best stories about people and the suffering they endure after America is involved in a nuclear war. This is not a book in which everything is better after 6 months but it shows the internal struggle of a main character to accept a closure much different from the one she believed she had to have. Congratulations Ms. Druga this book was wonderful.

Fantastic

Critics write about Alas Babylon & One Second After. This book is up there along side those.
Set in modern times this book aptly portrays the likely aftermath, and like those two is about family members & relationships of said people.
Beautifully written with realistic characters and a strong storyline, it is the best novel I've listened to this year.
Narration is excellent - full of life and emotion.
I highly recommends this book.

Enjoyed Very Much

Enjoyed the story. However, the narrator cannot pronounce the word nuclear--he pronounces it "nook-you-ler" throughout the entire book and it drove me INSANE!!! That aside, it was really pretty enjoyable.

Slow Developing Apocalypse

This book is a fairly good story of a family caught in a nuclear war. They are spread out across the country, and deal with plane crashes, food shortages, and radiation among other challenges. The story line moves along jumping from character to character with a lot of back story. The characters and situations they encounter are fairly realistic and people act as you'd expect with a few irrational situations. This is really more a story about how people in a family interact in bad times than a disaster novel. The book concludes with several loose ends, so a sequel is possible.
The narration by Andrew Wehrlen is excellent and other than a glaringly mispronounced city name that is correct mid way through the book, it is overall, very well done.

Good Solid Nuclear War/Family Drama

What Tomorrow Brings by Jacqueline Druga is a story about the Rolland family who is flying from Seattle to Washington D.C. for their fathers funeral. Everyone is fighting; Rege is the oldest, Mark the youngest, and their sister Kit and her son are on the flight. 2 hours in The bombs start to fall and eventually, the plane makes a crash landing. I will not spoil any more of the story as this is not a long story. I enjoyed this audiobook a lot but could not give 5 stars because Ms. Druga wrote it with another of her typical female main characters. Self-centered, selfish, and clueless to the goings on in the world. I like Ms. Druga writing but this is a character type she uses often and it is annoying to me. The rest of the story is good and entertaining. I do recommend it.

The narration is by Andrew Wehrlen. This is the first performance I have heard from Mr. Whrlen and I really enjoyed his craftsmanship on this wide and varied cast of characters. He was a very enjoyable narrator and I look forward to hearing more from him in the future.
