You’ll also find out how to transform the stress, anxiety and insecurity that result from constantly trying to please others into lasting confidence, self-respect and inner peace.
Whether it’s negative thinking, financial worry, loneliness, guilt or self-doubt that’s holding you back, Blake Bauer’s words will move you to take better care of yourself, heal old pain and courageously move forward. As much as we might try to resist, endings happen in every moment—the end of a breath, the end of a day, the end of a relationship, and ultimately the end of life. And accompanying each ending is a beginning, though it may be unclear what the beginning holds. In How We Live Is How We Die, Pema Chödrön shares her wisdom for working with this flow of life—learning to live with ease, joy, and compassion through uncertainty, embracing new beginnings, and ultimately preparing for death with curiosity and openness rather than fear.

What is karma? Most people understand karma as a balance sheet of good and bad deeds, virtues and sins. The mechanism that decrees that we cannot evade the consequences of our own actions. In reality, karma has nothing to do with reward and punishment. Karma simply means action: your action, your responsibility. It isn’t some external system of crime and punishment, but an internal cycle generated by you. Accumulation of karma is determined only by your intention and the way you respond to what is happening to you.

Have you ever wondered "Why did I do that?" or "Why can't I just control my behavior?" Others may judge our reactions and think, "What's wrong with that person?" When questioning our emotions, it's easy to place the blame on ourselves; holding ourselves and those around us to an impossible standard. It's time we started asking a different question. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”

Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

We all want love. Everything we do is in pursuit of love, but that journey has gotten difficult and complicated. We're programmed to seek love outside of ourselves, and we're trained that love is something to earn, or a destination to reach; that programming blinds us to the simple truth that we are beautiful, eternal sources of love, and to BE LOVED is to BE LOVE.

"Most people think of love as a feeling," says David Richo, "but love is not so much a feeling as a way of being present." In this audiobook, Richo offers a fresh perspective on love and relationships - one that focuses not on finding an ideal mate, but on becoming a more loving and realistic person. Drawing on the Buddhist concept of mindfulness, How to Be an Adult in Relationships explores five hallmarks of mindful loving and how they play a key role in our relationships throughout life.

But in this inspiring book, Phillip Moffitt shows us that we need not be at the mercy of our emotions. By cultivating a responsive mind rather than a reactive one, we can achieve a state of emotional clarity.

Intention is generally viewed as a pit-bull kind of determination propelling one to succeed at all costs by never giving up on an inner picture. The authors outline two possible scenarios for our planet. In one, they describe what life on Earth will be like by 2050 if we fail to meet the Paris Agreement’s climate targets. In the other, they lay out what it will be like to live in a regenerative world that has net-zero emissions. They argue for confronting the climate crisis head-on, with determination and optimism. The Future We Choose presents our options and tells us what governments, corporations, and each of us can, and must, do to fend off disaster.

As an 18-year-old, black, broke, lonely, insecure, university drop-out, from a bankrupt family, I wrote in my diary that I wanted to be a 'Happy Sexy Millionaire' by the age of 25. By 25 I was a multi-millionaire having created a business worth over $300m dollars. Ironically, in achieving everything I set out to, I learnt that I was wrong about almost everything... The world had lied to me. It lied to me about how you attain fulfilment, love and success, why those things matter, and what those words actually mean.

In a world with intense external pressures, where we often take on many different roles, it can be quite a challenge not to lose sight of who we are. We all reach a point where we wonder, “But what do I really want?” This book helps you answer that question. So that you can always stay true to yourself and live your life the way you want instead of the life that others expect of you. The more we are true to ourselves, the happier we are. And the happier we are, the more we can contribute to the happiness of those around us. Who are you?

Simply Put: This Booked Changed My Life
As the title states, this book changed my life in the ways that I needed to change. A little bit of a backstory would be that I recently moved from Wisconsin to Colorado for a career. My life prior to moving was filled with a lot of pain and suffering stemming from an accident that stopped my heart and I was revived by a defibrillator. I had a lot of damage physically but suffered the most emotionally and mentally with PTSD and losing all of my longterm memory. I was a jerk, hot-headed, closed off, held grudges and a slew of other attributes that I never wanted to be but I had to be accepting of in order to change. I had heard of Blake Bauer from a seminar he will be hosting in Colorado not far from me and I wanted to see what he offered as a writer. Since the radio in my truck is broken, I decided to try out Audible and used a credit for You Were Not Born To Suffer. In mere minutes, just from Blake’s straightforward approach to many topics and his coaching for breathing exercises, I was drawn in and couldn’t stop listening. So with a little bit of psychedelic help, I spent the entire 15 hours and I think 49 minutes working through each of the questions at the end of every chapter and the key affirmations that followed. Never in my life have I heard someone phrase unique perspectives in a way that Blake does from his own experiences. He is able to relay everything in a way that lays the groundwork for personal growth, rebuilding and clearing out some of the darkest corners of things buried deep within. You would have to want to better yourself to understand that this book is more than just a book, it’s a tool that’s capable of ridding years of guilt, shame, regret, remorse, grudges, etc, and allows for (at least for me) a second chance at life. Blake I sincerely thank you for everything.

Life Changing
This book was life changing for me. I started this book years ago and could not connect quick enough to keep me interested. In the meantime I have listened to many other books about inner growth and self love that had simpler concepts, more story telling and that I would consider to be less informative but more “entertaining”. The second time I was in a better place to grasp these huge, profound, life changing concepts. I Love this book and am grateful to the author for writing it.

Eternally grateful
Beautifully layered and well articulated the root cause of human suffering. Blake illuminates solid tools we can use to open our hearts, and find the love within ourselves, concepts like radical acceptance/ forgiveness, and other dynamics like money and love are discussed. Really good stuff, I can’t say enough about this book! 5 stars, highly recommend. Thank you.

Awful
By chapter 3 it was clear this was not worth further investment of time and effort. By chapter 5 I’d had enough of Bauer stringing out the same simple message with contrived pseudospiritual verbal diarrhea. Save you money and listen to Ram Das, Tolle, or any number of more credible options
