  • #7 - The Art of Self-Care Beyond Bubble Baths
    Sep 2 2024

Hey everybody! Welcome to Big Sister Chats, the podcast where we dive into all things mental health, physical well-being, and cultivating a positive mindset. ✨

Get comfortable or pretend that we’re on a phone call like siblings who talk about life experiences. This is how I want this podcast to feel like - a place where you can share your worries and I can offer my advice and hopefully make you feel a bit better. 💕

Whether it’s about growing in life or tackling everyday challenges, I’ve got you covered. 💪

In this episode, we are talking about self care. 🤍

"Go take a bubble bath and you’ll feel fine." Yeah, babes, that’s not how it works, sadly.

Self-Care. The word is all over social media. So I wondered: Is it just a trend? Just a vibe or a style that some people have? Is it just a fancy word, like we call regular walks “hot girl walks” now?

But I realized it’s not. Or it shouldn’t be. While it all seems so perfect on Instagram and Co, self care isn’t just putting cucumbers on your eyes, living a minimalist lifestyle and standing up at 5 in the morning. 👑

    --------

Growing up with three brothers, I always wished I had another woman to turn to for advice. If you’ve ever felt the same way, you’re in the right place. 💅

In this episode we´ll touch on:

    • What is self-care, really?
    • How do I practice self-care without feeling guilty?
    • Living Life vs. The Life on Social Media

Redefine Self-Care as a Daily Essential, Not a Luxury

Self-care isn’t just about treating yourself; it's about taking care of your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It can be as simple as setting boundaries, getting enough sleep, or saying no to things that drain you.

    Recap & Key Take-Aways

So, let’s recap what we’ve learned today:

Redefine Self-Care: It's not just about an aesthetic; it's taking care of your overall well-being.

Incorporate Self-Care into Daily Life: Small, consistent practices like taking breaks, breathing exercises, or setting boundaries can have a big impact.

Self-Care is Personal: Your routine should be tailored to what genuinely recharges you; it's okay if it doesn't look like everyone else's.

Consistency Over Perfection: Self-care is about growth, not perfection.

There are so many forms of Self-Care: find what works best for you.

Self-Care isn’t just a Trend: While self-care is popular, it’s more than a trend—it's a lifelong practice essential for managing stress and maintaining balance in a fast-paced world.

In this episode, we are talking about how to use your time to do something fun after work or uni so your evenings are not wasted. 🤍

It can be so exhausting to try and find something to do after a long day and we tend to just lay around, wasting the free time we have to wait around for the next day. Not anymore! 👑

Hey everybody! Welcome to Big Sister Chats, the podcast where we dive into all things mental health, physical well-being, and cultivating a positive mindset. ✨ Get comfortable or pretend that we’re on a phone call like siblings who talk about life experiences. This is how I want this podcast to feel like - a place where you can share your worries and I can offer my advice and hopefully make you feel a bit better. 💕

Whether it’s about growing in life or tackling everyday challenges, I’ve got you covered. 💪

In this episode, we are talking about how to spend your time more wisely by reducing your screen time and spending less time on your phone. 🤍

There are a couple of hacks that can help making your phone less addicting. Remember: These devices and apps are made to keep you there as long as possible, but you got this! 👑

Growing up with three brothers, I always wished I had another woman to turn to for advice. If you’ve ever felt the same way, you’re in the right place. 💅

Here are my notes on this episode:

We all only have 24 hours in a day but somehow some people seem to achieve more than others. Most of us do have some time we could spend

First, let’s do an audit and check just how much time we are spending on our phones. You can check your settings for your screen time.

⇒ On which apps do you want to cut back?

⇒ What “doesn’t count” like Spotify or where can it even be useful like Duolingo?

⇒ When do you use your phone when you could be doing something more productive or fun?

    Recap & Key Take-Aways

    • Do an audit
    • Greyscale
    • Work Mode: No messages between 7-16
    • one sec app
    • Have a dedicated place away from your work place / leave it at home
    • max. Screen Time (for certain apps)
    • MINDSET SHIFT: Don´t delete the app (you´ll re-download), make a new account and suddenly the algorithm isn´t fun anymore and you won´t be so tempted + all your drafts won´t be gone
    • Planning: What are you gonna do instead of being on your phone? F.e. set the intention to write a chapter and THEN you can go on your phone.

  • #4 - Moving Out II / Settling, Guilt & Homesickness
    Aug 12 2024

Hey everybody! Welcome to Big Sister Chats, the podcast where we dive into all things mental health, physical well-being, and cultivating a positive mindset. ✨

Whether it’s about growing in life or tackling everyday challenges, I’ve got you covered. 💪

I had to split this episode into two halfway through the recording because I realized I am talking forever haha. So tune into episode 3 if you want to hear something about how to decide whether and where to you should move. 😎

In this episode, we are talking about two feelings: guilt and homesickness after moving out. And also how to settle into your new place and get to know it. 🤍

Living in a new place can be exciting - but depending on how far away you go, there is a sense of longing for the known. As always, we talk about all the things I know and have experienced to make your life a little easier. 👑

Growing up with three brothers, I always wished I had another woman to turn to for advice. If you’ve ever felt the same way, you’re in the right place. 💅

Here are my notes on this episode:

So, you want to move out. You already plan moving out. Or you’ve moved out and you’re searching for some tips on how to navigate life in a new city.

    Topics we’ll touch on:

    • How to settle into your new place
    • Feeling guilty / homesick

    Recap & Key Take-Aways

    • Moving is expensive. Especiall if you’re doing it for the first time. Prepare in advance by setting money aside or asking friends and family to help you out
    • You can, for example, ask for kitchen items for christmas that you know you’ll love and use.
    • It’s completely normal to feel homesick every now and then. Sometimes you can battle the feeling by calling your loved ones and sometimes you just have to go back there. Both is alright.
    • You will most likely miss out on some big events happening back home. It will hurt. Make the best out of it because you are doing this for yourself.

Here are my notes on this episode:

June and July are almost over. We get one more month of summer and sunshine. In fact, here it was raining a lot this year and it feels like this summer is totally wasted. So, with August knocking at our doors, it´s time to make summer 2024 memorable after all.

    • Travelling for cheap
    • And all my practical tips on how to make this your Best Summer Yet, even if there is not much time left

    Recap & Key Take-Aways

    • If you haven´t already: Make a Bucket List and a Vision Board and find a Title for this summer
    • Travel with Hostelworld or Worldpackers or some other cheap option
    • Capture everything with an old camera - or any camera, just not your phone (or do, there´s app for that by now)
    • Make a dedicated summer playlist and listen to it each morning

So, this is my guide on how to make summer 2024 maybe not your best one yet, but still a very nice memory.

  • #1 - Making new friends & fighting Long Distance
    Jul 22 2024

Hey everybody! Welcome to Big Sister Chats, the podcast where we dive into all things mental health, physical well-being, and cultivating a positive mindset. ✨

Whether it’s about growing in life or tackling everyday challenges, I’ve got you covered. 💪

In this episode, we are talking all things making new friends, feeling lonely and how to maintain your long distance friendships from your hometown. 🤍

I'll share my favorite tip on how to make friends in a place where you know NOBODY (actually, this is the only way I made friends here as an introvert) and as always, talk about all the things I know and have experienced to make your life a little easier. 👑

Growing up with three brothers, I always wished I had another woman to turn to for advice. If you’ve ever felt the same way, you’re in the right place. 💅

Here are my notes on this episode:

Friends are soulmates. Or at least they can be. This is why, today we’ll touch on the topic of friendships.

As we grow older, it’s more and more hard to sustain the right connections in our life. In this episode we’ll talk about:

    - Long Distance Friendships and how to maintain them

    - AND Finding new Friends - actually, I have found a way to make friends that nobody has told me before. I’ve spent so many hours on YouTube, trying to find the magic key to new friendships. Nobody could tell me an easy fix. But I found it. And I’ll share it with you.

    Recap & Key Take-Aways

So, let’s recap what we’ve learned today:

    • If you want to keep your long distance friendships: Find your communication style. Either schedule calls or send each other mini-vlogs - or something else, whatever you guys prefer!
    • Letting go of friends from your hometown is okay
    • If you are feeling lonely right now, find things you can do on your own that are fun. Like pottery classes or days at the lake.
    • Try different events and groups - there are many free events. Say “yes” to things and if you have a bad feeling, you can always go home.
    • I know it’s hard for us introverts to put us out there. But truly, you only need to find one really good friend. And you can do that. Step out of your comfort zone at least once a week.
    • Take action either by messaging people on Apps like Bumble BFF or try to make a groupchat with all the lovely people from your town so everybody has higher chances to meet up.
