CW: In this episode we talk in depth about police violence, colonial violence, torture, and sexual assault.

In this episode Brendan and Dave are joined by the legendary Carole Concha Bell (@chiledissident) to talk about the history of Chilean occupation of Mapuche territories. We cover the colonial period, through the Pichochet era, and into the present day under the leadership of the newly elected leftist President "Fuckboi" Boric.

It should also be noted that since this episode has been recorded the Chilean government under Boric has sent the military back into Wallmapu to continue the terrorist occupation of the Mapuche territory.

Davey talks to real life Belgian, anarchist, and union organizer - Falco!

They chat about an interview that Jacobin did with the leader of the Belgian Worker's Party (PTB), Peter Mertens. They explore some critiques of the party and the contents of the interview. Falco also offers up some great insights into how unions function in Belgium.

We watched the 2017 film "We The Workers" directed by Wen Hai that details the daily lives of some tough-as-fuck Chinese labour organizers who work outside of the state sanctioned unions. We discuss some of the strategies that they use, examine the struggles they face, and are left in awe as we talk about how they overcome increasing aggression from the police.

In this latest and most belated episode I spoke with critical epidemiologist Tyler Munn (@TylerMunn_) and veteran organizer and educator Aalya Ahmad (@AalyaAhmad). We came together to chat about an individual who we hold mutual love and respect for, who had one of the biggest swingin' cods in modern Brazilian history, and who forever changed the way that we look at education and the world within a leftist context: Paulo Freire.

The idea of Critical Pedagogy introduced in his book Pedagogy of the Oppressed is what Paolo Freire is best know for. We explore a couple core concepts from the text and talk about how education needs to move beyond the classroom. We delve into the concepts of the student-teacher and teacher-student dynamic and how that can be applied to organizing! We also get some incredible insights into how community health education needs to evolve and about the government roadblocks that are in the way.
