Come Over to My House

De: Cassandra D.
  • Resumen

  • "Come Over to My House" was my favorite childhood book that looked at the structural homes of kids across various cultures. Those lessons stuck as I've been navigating homelessness in the USA for 2 years, and finding the beauty within moments of chaos. But I clearly understand that we shouldn't have to find moments of joy within our suffering. Join me as I deconstruct the systems that prevent complex trauma survivors from rising beyond their circumstances. And I'll do it via Appalachian storytelling medicine, or narrative therapy. • The Systemic Weaponization of Food and Nutrition
    Jul 14 2024

Capitalism, the patriarchy, white supremacy and other hierarchical structures have effectively not only made sure food is NOT a human right, but they have also ensured that food and nutrition are weaponzied against certain demographics.

Because of some bizarre domestic violence I experienced that included being poisoned, I found myself in an oncologist's office being tested for some nutritional deficiencies that rarely get discussed, but are directly related to living in poverty.

And I also discuss the ways in which weight/poverty issues are used to blame individuals for their health conditions, and the challenges that those same health conditions create when trying to access things like food banks.

  • White Women: A Call for Accountability
    Jul 7 2024

I am a white woman from a very racist area of the United States, and over the past two years (and thinking back retrospectively to my life before that), I've seen why white women are not only problematic, but dangerous.

Join me as I make a call to action for white women to take accountability for the parts that we actively play in not only perpetuating abuse systemically, but in also perpetuating abuse against ourselves and other women.

  • The Supreme Court & the Monopoly on Homelessness
    Jul 1 2024

To understand why oppressive systems don't want to end homelessness, it's important to deconstruct from how they benefit from it.

In this episode, I begin the deconstruction process in light of the fact that the Supreme Court has made being homeless illegal and punishable by prison.
