  • How to connect when I have no resources - The basics
    Dec 1 2023

On this episode Hannah speaks to Steven Russell.

He is founder & director of Elements SEMH support CIC and Steven Russell Drip By Drip Consultancy Ltd.

His journey began in the care system at 6 months of age.

His mother became extremely poorly following his father’s death in a car incident. So from the age of 6 months to 16 years, he lived with 10 foster families, 2 care homes and attended 5 schools.

Fast forward a few years, when he left care, he was becoming involved in minor gang activity, smoking cannabis regularly, carrying knives and treating people like rubbish. He was fastly becoming a hateful, toxic young man, and then there was Dave. Dave was an ex-care worker in his first care home, Dave was fun, loving, caring and understanding! Dave took me under his wing and mentored him to where Steven stands today.

As you'll hear Dave was Steven's One; the one person to not just believe in him, but to stay by his side until I was ready to fly.

This is an incredible conversation that you simply will not want to miss.

  • Connection With The Criminal
    Oct 15 2023

On this episode Hannah speaks to Claire Denby Knight.

Claire describes herself as a "Recovering Police Officer" having thrived during a varied policing career starting in front line, inner city response work, moving to specialisms in sexual offences, vulnerability, interviewing, force law training, and being a diversity champion... culminating in being a force lead in Restorative Justice.

It's this tool, or skill, requires deep and honest connection with the criminal and the victims they have created. She saw how this intervention - correctly applied - had the power to change the behaviour of criminals AND their victims, indeed to change their lives. It changed hers too...

  • Supporting A Child Through Loss
    Sep 15 2023

On this episode, Hannah speaks to Jo Stockdale.

This is how Jo describes herself:

"I do the work that I do because children’s social and emotional competence and wellbeing is more important now than ever before.

But, unlike their physical health, their wellbeing only tends to be prioritised once they're in difficulty or crisis.

I'm a trainer, consultant and resource developer, and I work with all kinds of professionals and practitioners, as well as parents, to promote a deeper understanding of children's social and emotional worlds.

I help them to understand the heart of children's difficulties, instead of just seeing the symptoms, so they can demystify disengagement and 'challenging' behaviour, strengthen poor resilience and self-esteem, and so they can thrive, and not merely 'cope'."

Just from this, you know that this is going to be an incredible conversation.
