EP 10 | Intersectionality and Civil Discourse w/Kim Brassor

  • Resumen

  • What is intersectionality? Intersectionality is a concept coined by Kimberlé Crenshaw in 1989 to describe how various forms of social subcategories, such as race, gender, and class, intersect to create unique dynamics and effects. When we recognize that individuals can't be defined by a single aspect of their identity, we begin to see the full picture of their lived experiences. This deeper understanding enables us to address the complex realities of discrimination and oppression. This is particularly true in this political season. The ‘gotcha’ mentality comes from a biopic perspective on humanity - there’s one way, the right way, my way. That has never been helpful for creating safe spaces for people to connect. I share about intersectionality and civil discourse and how we can have a significant impact living in a racial world. In this 10th episode of our podcast, I reflect on the first episodes and zero in on the past month's conversations and eagerly share my learnings and areas of growth in leading the mission of One Voice Evolving to come to fruition. Thank you for being on this journey with me. I invite you to like, share, comment and subscribe so we can join together to advance the important work of racial equity.
