• Episode 36-Taking Care of Your Temple: The Science of Body Connection with guest Jason Snell
    Jul 9 2024

How often do we neglect ourselves as parents and then not have enough or much to give out because of it? On this week's episode of Embracing Your Season with Paige Clingenpeel, is an amazing guest and advanced certified rolfer, Jason Snell. He is passionate about his practice in Fort Wayne, Indiana and helping as many people as possible learn to listen to their bodies in order to live life in balance. There is so much information packed into this podcast, you won’t want to miss it.

    Takeaways:

    1. Let’s listen to our bodies. Our bodies tell us when things are wrong or not working correctly. Pain gives us an indication that something is out of balance.
    2. Doctor’s are amazing but when you go to a doctor, keep in mind that they have a very narrow focus and consider looking at other options as well. If you feel you aren’t being heard, get a second opinion.
    3. Everything about your body is tied together. From what you hear, how much you sleep, what your stress level is, and what your physical movement is like throughout the day. All of these things are connected-body, mind and soul.

  • Episode 35-Keys to a Sacred Marriage with Gary Thomas
    Jul 2 2024

On this week's episode of Embracing Your Season with Paige Clingenpeel, author Gary Thomas joins Paige to discuss his book, Sacred Marriage. Married for over 40 years, Gary credits his devotion to loving his wife well to his faith in God. Recognizing that even the best marriages face challenging moments is key to a successful marriage! While no marriage is perfect, if we surrender our imperfections to God, He will shape us to become more like Christ.

    Takeaways:

    1. Marriage is hard. Even the best marriages have difficult moments. You can seek counsel or therapy and advice from mature married couples that can speak into your lives and marriage.
    2. Romanticism in our culture - where sometimes we are made to think that our partner isn’t made for us and that when marriage gets tough, we should just give up. We have to be realistic and give each other grace because nobody is perfect and it takes a lot of work to make marriage last.
    3. Good marriages aren’t something that you find, they are something that you make. We are constantly growing and changing so give yourself and your spouse grace.

  • Episode 33-The Toughest Questions Your Kids Will Ask about Christianity with guest Alex McFarland
    Jun 14 2024

How do we answer some of the tough questions our kids ask about Christianity? How do we equip and encourage our kids in the world we are living in? On this week’s episode of Embracing Your Season, Paige Clingenpeel has a phenomenal speaker, author, and Christian apologist, Alex McFarland on the show. Together, they discuss his book: The 21 Toughest Questions Your Kids Will Ask About Christianity. Kids are so curious about what we believe and sometimes ask really hard questions, but Alex breaks down how we can help our children understand who God is, why we believe in Him, and how to live a godly life.

    Takeaways:

    1. It is good that our kids are asking questions. We want them to come to us. Kids can be curious and with that curiosity their faith tends to become their own.
    2. Parents need to be able to answer these three questions:

    -Why are you a Christian?

    -What makes Christianity so unique?

-How has it changed your life?

    1. Talk about the Christian worldview. Your purpose is a key question in our kids lives. Knowing that they have been created with a purpose and for a purpose can set our kids up for success knowing that they are uniquely designed.

  • Episode 32-Avoiding Summer Break Meltdowns with Paige Clingenpeel
    Jun 5 2024

Join Paige on this week’s episode of Embracing Your Season, where she gives tips on avoiding the summer break meltdowns and those phone calls every few minutes from your kids. Paige shares her own experiences of summertime growing up with her brother, living out in the country, and only having each other to argue and play with. Summertime can be amazing, but it can also bring lots of stress for us as parents. Listen today and feel encouraged and equipped for summer success!

    Takeaways:

    1. Avoiding meltdowns by having a “bored list” easily accessible with chores and activities they can do during the summer while you are working. Use the “asked and answered” rule. This can make it easier to remind them that they have asked and you have answered them and given them options on the list. This will prompt them to go to that list or to problem-solve for themselves.
    2. Come up with themes for each day of the week or for the week. You can take this opportunity to learn about other cultures and plan meals around the culture your theme is about.
    3. No WiFi until the chores are done. A tip is to have them send you pictures of their completed tasks.
    4. Spend time outside riding bikes, weather activities, fire pit and s'mores, parks & rec schedule, and plan other fun family activities. Be active!
    5. Stock the pantry and fridge with food and snacks. Meal plan and have the kids help you with the meal plan for the week as well.
    6. Find other families who you can trade off days with to spend time with your kids and vice versa.

  • Episode 31-Youth Sports Rage and How to Overcome It with Paige Clingenpeel and Producer Mike Segovia
    May 30 2024

On this week’s episode of Embracing Your Season, Producer Mike Segovia joins Paige Clingenpeel on the show, to discuss the topic of increased conflict at youth sporting events. The increase of anger and conflict is growing in this day and age and virtually everything is being recorded and uploaded to social media. Listen as they keep it real and share their life stories and actions at their kids' sporting events.

    Takeaways:

Tips for Parent Anger at Sporting Event:

    1. Have a conversation with yourself about your values and what matters the most. These questions set the expectations for our behavior. Represent your family and Jesus by being calm and respectful in difficult moments where it is easy to show frustration and anger.
    2. Recognize and know what triggers you or sets you off. Be mindful of your environment, take deep breaths, and communicate to your spouse or friends that you need a break, a walk, etc.
    3. Address the thoughts you are having before speaking them. Our kids are watching us and we need to be good examples to them and those around us by practicing self-control.
    4. Pray it out! Prayer can change things so be mindful by letting Jesus into our experiences.

Helping Kids Process Emotions in Sports:

    1. The way they are coached has an impact on how they react or respond to disappointments.
    2. Learn to be teachable and grow, especially when making mistakes or feeling like they have failed.
    3. There’s a sense of injustice sometimes in sports. Build resilience in experiencing injustice because these things happen in life.
    4. Believe the best in everyone.

    Paige’s Positivity:

    1. My own worth is not equated by my performance.
    2. Building a community of people who are like-minded can make a huge difference in your life.
