Starring Sigourney Weaver, Charles Dance and Lance Henriksen, ‘Alien 3’ follows Ellen Ripley after her Sulaco escape pod crashes on a planet populated by violent male inmates; and violently undoes huge amounts of story work established by James Cameron in his eighties megahit ‘Aliens’. Widely considered a terrible end to Ripley’s story, this film is nonetheless Rob’s absolute favourite entry in the franchise; MUCH to Ben’s utter horror and disgust.

So what exactly does this botched sequel offer that can’t be found in its superior prequels? How did the most astounding of sci-fi franchises fall so low?
