  • Dallin Bruun, Mindfulness Expert and Therapist: Kids Are Already Mindful, Parents Need Mindfulness to Keep Them That Way
    Sep 9 2024

Children themselves are innately mindful. It takes a parent who’s preoccupied in constant activity to teach them not to be that way.

Turns out our kids are already pretty great at practicing mindfulness— that is, until we get in the way...

    Ouch.

This week, Mindfulness expert and therapist, Dallin Bruun, helps us parents re-learn to pay attention. To it all. To life. To the people around us. And even to all emotion… emotions we often label as good or bad, right or wrong.

Dallin studied under Jon Kabat-Zinn (aka. the godfather of modern mindfulness) at Umass Medical and holds a litany of other titles and credentials. He is full of so much unpretentious wisdom and real life, real human experience.

We discuss how mindfulness helps us stop being dead inside, how to stop judging and labeling emotions. And how to begin acknowledging all emotion, all our whole selves with compassion.

    We all need this.

Our kids need this from us.

So please join us for our first episode of season 2— with guest expert & Mindfulness Master, Dallin Bruun.

  • Is It Possible To Make Boundaries & Rules Our Kids & Teens Actually Want?
    Jun 24 2024

    "I love this rule!"...said no child/teenager ever.

But this week we find out how it might actually be possible to get our kids onboard with the rules we make.

Dr. Skinner shares the secret sauce:

Relationships before rules. Care not control.

...And the importance of collaborating and connecting with our kids over the why's behind the boundaries we make as parents.

Sure this may sound like you might be adding more work to your already full plate as a parent, all this relationship building and communication-- but in this episode we learn how this front work actually eliminates future friction and stress-- And even forges bonds suffuse with so much love, safety, and care between parent and child.

  • How to Create a Tech Plan So you Stop Fighting with your Kids
    Jun 17 2024

Today on Finding Noble we address the exhausting challenges of parenting in a digital age.

Technology doesn't own us! But sometimes it feels like we've lost all power.

Our goal here is to help you create collaborative guidelines as a family to ensure technology is serving rather than hindering personal development and connection in your family relationships.

We stress on how technology is profoundly effecting our kid's mental health, the importance of maintaining a positive parent-child relationship within your discussions around technology, and the necessity for educating your own kids on the impact of digital devices, social apps, etc.

Dr. Skinner also discusses the power of teaching AND modeling self-regulation.

Yikes!... This means more awareness and accountability as parents and taking intentional control over our own technology habits.

We hope this helps diminish tension around technology in your home and homes everywhere!

Thank you for all the unseen goodness you do. Keep going.
