This episode of the Educators Among Us podcast celebrates and encourages educators who make a lasting difference in the lives of students.

Your host, Scott Barron, reflects on the importance of planning and taking action. You’ll enjoy a poignant story about his grandchildren on a recent beach vacation, including sandcastles and the need to solve a problem. As the analogy goes, the sand mixture has to be right. Sometimes it’s too wet. Sometimes it’s too dry. And yes, sometimes, you’ve got to “flip the bucket”.

Scott emphasizes the need for educators to be bold and courageous in trying new methods and embracing change, and also discusses the challenges of managing time and staying focused on priorities.

Ultimately, this episode encourages educators to make the most of every opportunity and develop habits and a mindset that enables growth and innovation for themselves, and those who seek to learn from them.

  • Ep 67 - Difficulties Abound: Overcoming the Challenges to Win
    Jul 22 2024
Title: Difficulties Abound: Overcoming the Challenges to Win Today's conversation concerns educators' challenges and difficulties and how to use them as opportunities for growth and learning. In this podcast, we encourage educators to feed their minds with positive content, surround themselves with positive people, and develop good habits. The conversation concludes with a reminder to embrace difficulties and use them as opportunities for leadership. In this episode, we “flashback” to one of our most popular episodes, Episode 3, where we first brought up the concept of “using your difficulties” for good, instead of allowing them to derail the important work you are trying to do. We close with a discussion of best practices so that you can use those difficulties when they arise. Things like more rest, surrounding yourself with positivity and positive people, and prioritizing oneself in order to contribute to effective leadership. Takeaways • Educators face various challenges and difficulties in their roles. • Difficulties can be used as opportunities for growth and learning. • Never pass up a chance to use a difficulty, though we certainly might wish we didn’t have them, or might try to avoid them. • Self-care and rest are crucial for educators to handle difficulties effectively. • Feeding the mind with positive content and surrounding oneself with positive people is important. • Developing good habits and prioritizing oneself contributes to effective leadership.
