  • Diversity & Inclusion: Women in the Workplace
    May 7 2020

Listen in to the first of five podcasts about marginalized groups, what life is like for some of them and how best to be an ally for this group. In this podcast, Kim interviews six women of different decades working in male-dominated professions and the inequities they have experienced. The focus is not on condemning men but on helping people who aren't a member of this group how to best serve as an ally. Join the conversation and maybe start some conversations of your own.

  • Diversity & Inclusion: Black & African American
    May 14 2020

My goal in doing this podcast is to provide a space for safe, honest, direct conversation of the life experiences with discrimination, oppression and inequities of some amazing humans, who also happen to fit into the category of Black or African American because of the shade of their skin. They will also provide great advice for allies. Let’s help break down barriers.

  • Diversity & Inclusion for Hispanics
    May 21 2020

Kim has a discussion with two exceptional humans whose skin tone categorizes them as Hispanic, who live with discrimination and inequities every single day over something they have zero control over. Many Hispanic people fear having a straight-ahead conversation about ethnicity with white people because for Hispanics, it often isn’t safe due to discrimination and stereotyping that exists, while whites fear appearing racist for even calling attention to the inequities. Tune in if you’d like to hear what these brave Hispanics had to say to this white girl about what it has been like for them to live with brown skin in the US of A.

  • Diversity and Inclusion for the LGBT Community
    May 28 2020

Because my guests live in different time zones, they were interviewed separately, instead of as a panel, so this week’s podcast is a bit different, and by necessity, longer, than my previous diversity and inclusion podcasts. I will be speaking with three exceptional humans who are members of the LGBT community. As such, they live with discrimination and inequities every single day by just living their lives, being themselves and loving whom they love. I know many of you believe in equal rights for the LBGT community. Those who oppose them, have likely not had conversations to understand what life is like for them. Some of you may agree with the concept of equal rights for the LGBT community in principle, but you may not be in touch with today’s LGBT community, as the conversation and language is always evolving. This podcast is one way to hear today’s conversations. Listen in, be an ally and help tear down barriers of inequities and discrimination.

  • Mental Illness: The Disease of Disconnection
    Jun 4 2020

In this episode, Kim takes a look at the fallacies in the biological/disease/medical model of mental illness and instead proposes, what is currently called mental illness, is actually not a disease at all, but rather a person's best attempt to get something they want when they are suffering from disconnection. Disconnection comes in many forms and the coronavirus has created disconnection of epic proportions. If you are suffering from disconnection or if you are professionals helping those who are disconnected, have a listen.

  • Developing Effective Communication around Racism
    Jun 11 2020

In this episode, Kim speaks about the racial unrest in this country from her perspective which comes from listening to, learning from and facilitating diversity workshops over the past 20 years. Her perspective naturally has been shaped from white privilege but it’s been drastically affected by hearing from her black brothers and sisters how different their lives are from her own. She lays out a plan to have effective race communication to capture the hearts and minds of enough people to truly break down barriers and eliminate privilege from this culture. If you would like to hire her to facilitate some diversity and inclusion conversations for your business, community organization or religious group, you can contact her at kim@therelationshipcenter,biz.
