The Minnesota Twins break their streak of series victories dropping two of three to the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. Andrew "Hoges" Hoganson fills in for Dan Thompson and tries his best to be the voice of reason. The boys discuss the news that Willi Castro has been named an all-star, as well as a fan's request in exchange for Carlos Santana's HR ball which completed his journey of hitting a home run in all 30 active MLB stadiums. Hoges is worried Rocco and the front office are getting too cutesy with their roster in attempting to use the All-Star break to their advantage, and David is furious at the role being filled by Christian Vazquez. The guys have some choice words for Manny Margot's play in game 3 and they discuss the current health struggles on the roster and the looming trade deadline. Yet again, the Minnesota Twins win a series, the sixth in a row. This one comes in Chicago over the rival White Sox, whose inadequacy at baseball has David all worked up that the Twins didn't sweep. Dan tries to bring a reasoned perspective, pointing out that this is what manager Rocco Baldelli goes for: Two out of three. The boys discuss the resurgent play of Matt Wallner, the timely hits of Brooks Lee and Carlos Correa, and the ongoing excellence of Byron Buxton, who seems always able to take an extra base. David is critical of Twins ownership for not investing more before the season, while Dan defends the perspective that this just might have been the right approach after all. Dan joins David in studio for this episode, which looks back at the Minnesota Twins' series victory over the visiting Houston Astros. Dan is upset still that Rocco Baldelli didn't do more to try to win what turned out to be a wild loss in Game 1, whereas David has more reason and patience for the manager's choices. They discuss the record-setting series from Jose Miranda in which he recorded hits in 12 consecutive at-bats, and they also admire the play of rookie Brooks Lee and veteran catcher Christian Vazquez. Carlos Correa appears to be OK after taking a baseball to the right hand -- well enough to play Monday and then, hopefully, in the All-Star Game next week.
