  • All Part of the Grand Narrative (Royals Series Recap, 8/12-8/14)

By dominating the Kansas City pitching staff (at least for two games), the Minnesota Twins take two of three from the rival Royals in a rare late-season meaningful series between the two AL Central clubs. David and Dan recap the solid pitching performances, which includes the MLB debut of Zebby Matthews. Dan heaps praise on the young starter (and the farm system that developed him), while David reserves his adoration for the improved play of Max Kepler, who had a fine series in right and at the plate. They look at the significance of Byron Buxton's latest ailment, of Kyle Farmer's return and of the role Christian Vazquez has settled into. They look around the league at a resurgent NL West, a new landing place for a former Twins player and a milestone for a Yankees slugger. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!

  • Missing the Ws (Guardians Series Recap, 8/9-8/11)

The Minnesota Twins split a four-game series with the Cleveland Guardians at Target Field. Despite fantastic starting pitching the Twins offense left much to be desired in games 3 and 4, only managing to score a combined 4 runs. The Twins retired the "W" of the Washington Senators in celebration of their 1924 World Series, and Dan can't resist the op-pun-tunities. The boys praise Rocco for his lineup positioning as well as his must-win bullpen usage in game 4. David wants to know if calling Bailey Ober an ace is appropriate, and Dan has unexplainable good vibes about the starting rotation for the remainder of the season. Thanks for listening, and as always, go Twins!

  • Managing to Win the Next Series (Cubs Series Recap, 8/5-8/7)

Back together, David and Dan mull their disappointment, as the Minnesota Twins lose two of three to the Chicago Cubs. David was in attendance for the lone victory and shares his fond memories and positive experiences from Wrigley Field. Dan is convinced that Rocco Baldelli was content with just one victory and set his eyes on the next series -- at home against the first-place Cleveland Guardians -- as he basically handed the keys to bench coach Jayce Tingler and said "see you in Minneapolis." David confronts Dan about words he said four years ago, while Dan isn't totally convinced that the Joe Ryan injury is a death knell for this team. They look around the league at the White Sox ending their historic losing streak, and they lament the release of a former and much beloved Twins player. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!

Together once more, Dan and Hoges recap a series sweep for the Minnesota Twins, this time against the Chicago White Sox, which was really the only acceptable outcome against Major League Baseball's worst team. They heap praise on the play of Royce Lewis and Byron Buxton while also highlighting the significance of Jose Miranda (and many others) to the offensive prowess of this team. Hoges asks about whether the expectations for this team are the same as they were four months ago, and Dan wonders what the Twins are going to do with a healthy Kyle Farmer. They look around the league at a few rival players who are having excellent seasons, and they consider, during this Olympic season, whether Major League Baseball would allow the pros to compete in 2028. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!

  • A Bell From Santa’s Sleigh (Mets Series Recap, 7/29-7/31)
    Aug 1 2024

    Send us a Text Message.

Sandwiched around a trade deadline during which they did very little, the Minnesota Twins lost two of three to the New York Mets, closing out a road trip with a 3-3 record. Filling in for David, Hoges argues that the Pohlads deserve pretty much all of the blame for the Twins not making a move at the deadline and that they deserve the criticism that has come their way. Dan agrees and wonders whether it really will sour the fanbase to the point of apathy, considering that at the end of the day, this is still a playoff-caliber team. They recap the many breakdowns in Games 1 and 2 of the series while taking solace in the fact that they won Game 3 to salvage the series. They look around the league at a heartwarming story involving Jackson Holliday, and they look forward to the next series against the worst team in baseball, the Chicago White Sox. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!

  • Deadpool, Wolverine, and Receipts (Tigers Series Recap, 7/26-7/28)
    Jul 29 2024

    Send us a Text Message.

The Minnesota Twins take 2 of 3 from the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. Andrew "Hoges" Hoganson fills in for Dan who is once again globe trotting and David brings along some receipts to which Hoges has no answer. The boys discuss the great outings of Pablo Lopez and Bailey Ober, as well as their disappointment in Rocco's definition of a high leverage situation. Hoges' disappointment continues as Rocco refuses to stop using Manny Margot to pinch hit despite his .000 average when used as a pinch hitter. The guys offer their thoughts on which pieces the Twins ought to be willing to move at the deadline in return for starting pitching, and they both lament ownership's unwillingness to spend money while the team is on the upswing. The boys finish up discussing the trades made prior to the deadline and make their picks for the upcoming Mets series. Thanks for listening, and as always, go Twins.

  • Things Rocco Doesn't Pay Attention To (Phillies Series Recap, 7/22-7/24)
    Jul 25 2024

    Send us a Text Message.

Hosting the team with the best record in the Majors, the Minnesota Twins took two of three at Target Field to win a series over the Philadelphia Phillies, and Dan and Hoges can hardly believe it. But they agree: Considering how many players are missing from the Twins' roster, this was an impressive series win in which Minnesota played the better brand of baseball. Still, they have many critiques for Rocco Baldelli, largely surrounding his pinch hitting tendencies and his propensity to ignore reverse splits. They also look ahead to next week's trade deadline and wonder whether players like Eddy Julien, Trevor Larnach or Matt Wallner will be with this team into August. They are hopeful about the impending returns of Royce Lewis and Jose Miranda heading into this weekend's road trip that begins in Detroit. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!

  • The Fifth Batboy (Brewers Series Recap, 7/20-7/21)
    Jul 22 2024

    Send us a Text Message.

Back together to recap the Minnesota Twins' two-game series loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, David and Dan lament the many mistakes of Rocco Baldelli as the Twins stumble out of the All-Star break. While there certainly were some positives, such as the pitching of Pablo Lopez and the home run heroics of Byron Buxton and Carlos Santana, there were many reasons to wonder what might have been: What if the Twins bunted in Game 1? What if they could have gotten one clutch hit in Game 2? What if Rocco just left the lineup alone instead of pinching all the time? These are the questions the boys dive into, among many others. They discuss Joe Mauer's induction into the MLB Hall of Fame, they argue about the value of playing six games against the Brewers instead of the current four, and then they look toward the next series against the NL's best team. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!
