  • Root Cause and Changing the beliefs that no longer serve you
    Nov 19 2020

This week I am joined by Sally Guthrie from 'The Freedom Connection'.

Sally trained a few years ago with Marissa Peer, and has gone on to establish herself through the work that she now does, helping clients to uncover the root cause of the issues that they present with.

Sally believes that by understanding the root cause of our issues we can become aware of the belief system, which may or may not be serving us, in order that when we are ready, we can make the changes to the behaviours and beliefs that are driving us.

While Sally is based in Sydney, she works with clients online from around the world and is available to discuss her work, and how it may help you, so you can find her at her website

  • Pathological Demand Avoidance
    Oct 28 2020

Nicola Reekie is a Cardiff based therapist, who, after finding her own son diagnosed with PDA, went on to raise awareness and support other parents in their journey to understanding more about the implications of PDA for their child and their family.

I personally had never heard of Pathological Demand Avoidance so it was fascinating to hear from Nicola what her first hand experience was in identifying this and the challenges she faced as she advocated for her child when working to establish a diagnosis but also in gaining support for him.

The work that Nicola has done to raise awareness and now support other families whilst running a business and a family has been a huge achievement.

You can find Nicola at the PDA Sanctuary in Facebook, or you can find out more about PDA and the summit that she organised by heading to https://positivepda.com/

  • Birth Trauma - Identifying the signs and how to find help
    Oct 21 2020

For parents who experience trauma during the birth of their child it can be easy to overlook the importance of getting help.

For may it may prevent them from risking another birth, or see them develop significant anxiety throughout the subsequent pregnancy.

It is often hard to find sympathy or empathy, from others and can even lead to self doubt or shame, once the baby is born, with many being told 'just be grateful, you have a healthy baby'

There is no shame in suffering and trauma during birth can, untreated, lead to flashback, and issues years later when the parent is retriggered by similar emotions.

I speak to Jenny Hassett of You, Me & Baby about the women that she works with to release the trauma of previous pregnancies before going on to enjoy a more relaxed and better informed pregnancy and birth.

    Jenny's website https://youmeandbaby.co.uk/

has further resources if you wish to explore more about this.
