  • From Fear to Freedom: Rik's Journey Out of Insomnia | Ep 60
    Sep 25 2025

In this inspiring story, Rik shares how insomnia brought him to his knees — and how he slowly rewired fear into freedom. From panic attacks to the loneliness of sleepless nights, he describes what it was like to feel trapped in the cycle of anxiety and exhaustion.

But through patience, community, and a new understanding of the mind, Rik discovered something profound: freedom isn’t perfect sleep. It’s letting go of the fight.

“The wild thing is dealing with insomnia… it's just kind of letting it be—that's what fixes it.”

    You’ll hear:

    • Why medical fixes (like CPAP, supplements, and strict rules) didn’t solve the struggle
    • The role of community in easing loneliness and breaking the cycle
    • How Rik learned that sleep doesn’t require calmness or perfection to happen
    • What it looks like to shift from fighting insomnia to accepting it
    • Why recovery is messy, non-linear, and still full of hope
    • The surprising ways progress shows up
    • How neuroplasticity helps rewire fear into freedom

If you’re struggling, Rik’s story is a powerful reminder that hope is real, recovery is possible, and you are not alone 🧡

  • Why Does Insomnia Go Away and Come Back? | Ep 59
    Sep 11 2025

Ever feel like your insomnia was FINALLY gone… only to have it come back for no apparent reason?

This used to drive me absolutely bananas.

Insomnia can vanish for weeks, months—or even years at a time, and then reappear without warning.

    No wonder it's so confusing.

But once I learned how memory works and how the brain stores experiences, it started to make a lot more sense.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • Why the cyclical nature of insomnia points to a mind-body loop (not a broken brain)
    • How unconscious “imprints” get reactivated
    • What it really means when insomnia “comes back”
    • Why flare-ups aren’t “setbacks” but chances to update old wiring

The good news? The brain can rewire. So past triggers lose their grip—and you get to step fully into your life again 🧡

  • How to Stop Overthinking Insomnia | Ep 58
    Aug 7 2025

Can't stop thinking about your sleep?

Wondering how to get back to clarity?

Feel like you're just spinning your wheels?

    Sounds pretty normal to me.

In fact, confusion is often a sign that something deeper is happening beneath the surface.

In this episode, I talk about what overthinking really is, why it shows up during recovery, and how to relate to it in a way that helps you move through it so clarity returns on its own.

This one’s for my fellow overthinkers. ❤

  • Stuck in the Research Loop w/ Michelle Weil | Ep 57
    Jul 17 2025

Stuck in the research loop with insomnia?

    You’re not alone.

When sleep becomes unpredictable, researching feels like the next best thing to do. Because at least you're doing something… right?

But what if that something is quietly reinforcing the very problem you’re trying to solve?

In this episode, Beth and Michelle talk about why it’s so easy to get trapped in the research loop, and why it’s so hard to get out.

    Listen as we explore:

    • Why researching creates the illusion of safety
    • How it keeps us stuck in fear instead of freedom
    • Why true recovery begins when you stop searching for it

If you’ve been operating from the belief that more knowledge equals more sleep, this conversation will gently challenge that idea—and invite you into a new one.

    Enjoy! 🧡

  • Relinking Wakefulness | Ep 56
    Jun 26 2025

Have you ever wondered what actually makes insomnia recovery possible?

In this episode, I talk about exactly that.

We explore one of the most hopeful principles of neuroplasticity — and why it’s the reason getting beyond insomnia isn't just possible… but inevitable when you understand how the brain works.

The human brain has the amazing capacity to change associations and shift links.

And truly, is there anything more miraculous than that?

In this episode, you’ll learn how:

    • Your responses play a key role in rewiring the brain
    • Insomnia isn’t a sign that something is broken, but a conditioned pattern rooted in hyperarousal
    • Changing your brain’s association with wakefulness can be a turning point in recovery

I also share a personal story that illustrates how learned fear responses can shift, and why that same shift is completely possible for you, too.

    Enjoy!

  • “You Don’t Have to Heal Everything to Sleep Again” — Liz’s Story | Ep 55
    Jun 5 2025

I had such a lovely time sitting down with Liz, a psychotherapist and alum of the Mind. Body. Sleep. mentorship.

Not only did Liz make it through insomnia herself, but she stayed active in the community to support others still on their way.

Like so many of us, she tried everything:

    • Impeccable sleep hygiene
    • CBT-I
    • Sleep meds

But the more she tried, the more fear crept in.

Not just a fear of not sleeping, but a fear of fear itself.

Which is such a common part of this journey.

This episode is filled with heart and insight. A few standout moments:

“Not only was I afraid of not sleeping, I was afraid of fear.”

“You don’t have to heal everything to sleep again.”

“Even a little bit of self-compassion is powerful.”

If your nervous system feels stuck in high gear, or you’ve lost trust with your body, Liz’s story will help you feel so much less alone.

    Enjoy! 🧡

    Mentioned Resources:

Liz is licensed in both South Carolina and Illinois. If you’ve gone through insomnia recovery and are looking for excellent aftercare, I can’t recommend her enough.

  • How to Overcome Doubt and Keep Moving Forward | Ep 54
    May 22 2025

    Let's talk about doubt.

Doubt is something every single person on the recovery path deals with, and I was no exception.

In this episode, we take a deeper look at what doubt really is, why it feels so powerful, and how to shift your relationship with it so it no longer holds you back.

    Come with me and learn:

    1. What’s actually driving doubt (hint: safety!), and why it’s a normal part of the human experience.

    2. The two kinds of doubt, and why only one of them is worth giving your attention to.

    3. The exact step-by-step process I use with my clients to help them uncover whatever story is driving their doubt.

Recovery isn’t about eliminating doubt. It’s about changing how you relate to it… and living your life anyway. 🧡
