Raz has been running for many years (back to his youth as a 400m track runner). Recently running has brought him to appreciate the joys of participating in the context of something beyond himself. When he moved to Los Angeles he found himself using running to explore the expansive city. After a while, he found what he loved about certain groups and what drew him to enjoy the groups he attended. This led him to create a group that meets together.

With his experiences of participating and experiencing community, combined with his background as a journalist he sought to tell the stories of running communities far and wide. Through "Running Sucks 101," Raz writes and tells stories.
