    Apr 27 2021
In this episode, Howard and his co-host, Tierney Rae, are taking another deep dive into Howard’s book, I AM: The Power of Discovering Who You Really Are. In part 1 of the series, they spoke about the introduction and the first section of the book; sharing many key insights around self-awareness, self-perception, and self-empowerment. In this second part of the series, Howard and Tierney are taking a look at chapters 1 and 2 of I AM. They explore why self-awareness is so critical to self-empowerment, the basis of I AM in discovering the power of who you are, how our beliefs determine our state of mind, how to begin to overcome our fear of death (and instead live a powerful life of creating what we want for ourselves), and why it is so crucial acknowledge the full truth when you’re trying to create something for yourself. Howard and Tierney also take an in-depth look at some of the key quotes from I AM, such as: “Without relativity there is no reality,” “Evolution is creation expressed,” and “As a creative human being, your journey here is not to decide if you are going to matter but rather how you will matter at each step along the way.” This episode is jam-packed with key takeaways from I AM, practical advice, and golden nuggets of wisdom that you may have missed in your first read-through of I AM! Join Howard and Tierney’s conversation to discover the true power you have within you. “Just by taking this journey of self-awareness, you’re doing exactly what you can do to help the world in the way that you want. But, you have to be courageous on the journey — because you’re going to be confronted by a lot of truth.” — Howard Falco   Key Takeaways [:49] About today’s episode! [1:03] Howard welcomes Tierney Rae on to the podcast as his co-host. [1:51] Key insights from Part One of I AM; why self-awareness is so critical to self-empowerment. [4:25] Howard provides a few examples of how our beliefs determine our state of mind and shape our reality. [6:12] Why your response is a huge part of what you’re creating for yourself in the next moment and validating your belief in something. [8:37] Tierney shares her thoughts on the importance of claiming our power around how we want to view everything in our lives. [9:18] Why the fear of death is one of the biggest reasons for someone having a negative or fear-based mindset that causes someone to be very “I” dominated vs. “we” dominated — and what we can do to overcome this fear and instead live a powerful life of creating what we want for ourselves. [11:34] The importance of empathizing with others’ fears rather than judging. [13:40] Why compassion creates connection, safety, and healing. [15:40] About Howard’s private coaching sessions for those serious about positively changing their life. [19:46] Why you have to acknowledge the full truth when you’re trying to create something for yourself. [21:58] How to unlock true empowerment (and why doing so is the ultimate key to happiness). [24:54] Howard elaborates on a key insight on page 31 that marks a big turning point on the journey of life: “As a creative human being, your journey here is not to decide if you are going to matter but rather how you will matter at each step along the way. This ‘how’ is the essence of the free will that resides in you and every other person.” [26:00] Once you are at peace with the idea that you matter, you need less from your world, and you're able to help others on their journeys to seeing the same thing about themselves. [28:07] The differences between having wants and being needful, and why being needful prevents your full potential of giving love free as well as your talent from coming out. [30:37] Howard dives into another fantastic quote from I AM: “Evolution is creation expressed.” [35:03] What life is: an exact process of the expression of infinity. [36:08] Howard and Tierney discuss how all of the major problems of the world can be traced back to fear and negativity from mankind’s consciousness, and why liberating ourselves from our own fear has a massive impact on the collective. [39:08] Howard reads the ending excerpt of chapter 2: “All creation is designed to give you the awareness of more of the infinite possibilities that exist for you in each moment. • The Mental Side of Golf: Boyd Summerhays on What it Takes to be a Top Level Player
    Nov 24 2020
Howard is honored today to have the opportunity to sit down and speak with a former PGA Tour player and one of the best golf instructors in the country, Boyd Summerhays! As soon as Boyd could walk, he had a golf club in his hands. However, that’s no surprise considering the strong golfing lineage in his family! His grandfather, Pres Summerhays, was the head golf coach at the University of Utah. His father, Lynn, played collegiate golf and served as President of the Utah Junior Golf Association and the USGA Committee for several years. On top of this, his uncle, son, daughter, and younger brother all have their own accolades in golf as well. As a junior golfer, Boyd won over 75 junior and high school tournaments, numerous national junior events, and three Junior World Championships. He was also a four-time American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) High School All-American, and, at age 16, was ranked No. 1 in the country, earning the title of Golfweek/Titleist Junior National Player of the Year. In his 11-year professional career, he has won over 20 events. He earned his PGA Tour card in 2003, and from ‘04-06, competed in 29 PGA Tour events. He has played on the Korn Ferry Tour, PGA Tour Canada, and several other professional tours. At age 32, he took the lessons he learned and the knowledge he gained from his 25 years of experience in competitive golf and began teaching the game to others. Seeing the progress and success of his students soon became his new passion, and now, for the last 6 years, he has spent his time coaching his two top-ranked children and professionals on the PGA Tour including star student Tony Finau. In this episode, Howard interviews Boyd about the wisdom he has learned on and off the golf course. From what he believes to be the strongest mental attribute of a top performer or champion at any level, to how he has dealt with struggles and setbacks in his career, what his own children have taught him about success and the game, and beyond. Howard also picks Boyd’s brain on the key characteristics that he’s witnessed both in himself as a great young player and in those that he’s worked with.   Key Takeaways [:48] About today’s episode!
