  • Ep 67 Staying (Or Getting) On Track: A Guide for Teachers (Or Anyone) As School Starts Up Again

    It's with a heavy heart that I record and share this episode as... it marks my realization that summer is quickly coming to an end. [insert dramatic sad face] Walking through Target last week, I was bombarded with that realization - if I'm honest. Huge signs proclaimed "BACK TO SCHOOL" and "GET YOUR SCHOOL SUPPLIES" as I entered the big sliding glass doors. So there wasn't really a chance to miss the bold school bus black and yellow marketing. In that moment, I remembered the stress and strife of the end of so many summers as a teacher. In those days leading up to the start of the new school year, I would be disppointed - that my freedom was ending, but also that I had started summer with big plans to "eat healthy and exercise THIS year." But... I had let myself down again. So I'm not surprised these days when I talk to teachers who tell me they're experiencing the same disappointment - that of not making use of their relaxed summer schedule to put a healthy routine in place. They also tell me... they're concerned that now they won't be able to get on track once the busy days of fall get underway. Well, teachers... This episode is for you! But it's not only for the teachers as these tips will help any woman during this (oft stressful) time of year. So it's for busy moms and grandmas too because I know teachers aren't the only ones who feel the hustle and bustle of fall. We all experience the rushing of getting kids up and off to school, chauffeuring them to and from activities, working all day then hitting the door at home and immediately figuring out what's for dinner. All of that busy-ness just piles on top of the regular responsibilities of work and life because as a woman, you know... those tasks don't slow down or stop for fall.   • Ep. 65 Caring for Elderly Parents: The Toll It Takes on Your Health & Tips to Help Navigate the Responsibility

    A struggle more and more of us are dealing with as we get older is caring for our elderly parents.

    Whether it's with part-time or full-time care, many women our age face the added responsibility of physically (and sometimes financially) aiding our parents as their physical and/or mental health declines.

    As an online coach and mentor to (more) women put in this situation, I realize the toll it takes on you. So I've become more informed about that impact, and as a result, I've customized our MRS coaching (even) to help clients navigate this emotional space.

    In today's episode, I share some of the challenges of caring for aging (and ill) parents, and I explain the negative impact it can have on your physical and mental health, as well as its affect on your weight loss journey.

    I also share some of the strategies I use in coaching women facing these struggles, and I give you practical tips that you can use if you are dealing with this challenge.

    My hope is that I can help you better navigate this time in life, so you feel more equipped to handle the varied emotions that come with caregiving and so you also continue to care for yourself during this difficult stage.
