Zane had a love for writing that was stifled by the rigid structure and grammar rules in school. It wasn’t until college, where he discovered poetry, that his creativity truly blossomed, reigniting his passion for storytelling.

🧠 Diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder:
Zane opens up about the challenges of identifying triggers for his depression and the frustration it brings. He shares his experience of suicidal thoughts surfacing around the anniversary of his mother’s passing and the life-saving support he received from the Trevor Project hotline. Despite having a strong family support system, his mental health struggles intensified in college, leading to self-harm.

💪 Becoming an Advocate:
Determined to advocate for his own mental health and spread awareness, Zane’s efforts led to a White House invitation in 2022 to speak on mental health. He collaborated with various organizations and participates in the ‘Fellow through Inseparable’ program. Zane takes pride in his journey and continually reminds himself of his value and contributions to mental health goals.
